Champions League, Spartak Moscow, home (3-2)

1. Xavi (37,1%) Que puto crack. Boss. Had one assist [...] Good movement, decent defensive work... just top class throughout ~ Deco 20
2. Tello (34,3%) 1 goal and 1 assist, great match from Tello and he is yet to improve ~ Yugi
3. Messi (20,8%) 2 goals, got us the winner. Although did not play brilliant, still my nr3 because of his eventual impact on the game ~ CF4 1899

Finally! 32 years of age but still living up to the rediculusly high standards set by himself, Xavi Hernández takes his first 1. place of the season, incredibly enough after having featured in the top 3 a whooping 5 times of 7 games! Que puto crack as Deco 20 so eloquently put it!

Just 3% from the midfield maestro we find the much criticized Tello in second place. This is the second time in the season that Tello features in the rankings, after also taking a second place in the first game of the season against Real Sociedad. Could this be a chance of fortunes for the young winger?

The majority seemed to agree with CF4 1899 about who was the third best of the bunch: Here we have Messi who keeps Xavi on a tight leash in regards of top 3 appearances: Both are 5 of 7 now and are distancing themselves further and further from their rivals for the much sought after title of The Official Barcaforum.com MoM-thread award - Player of the season. The closest of the stragglers at the moment are Valdes, Tello and Pedro who've all featured an underwhelming - at least in comparison with the two magic leprechauns - 2 times in the top 3-rankings.

Random stat of the day: Sergio Busquets, who's widely regarded as the best in the world in his position, has earned a pathetic 4 total points all season so far. To put it in perspective, Messi has so far hauled a rediculus 203 points. What gives, Busi? Is he the real culprit of our defensive woes this season, or is it a matter of him consistently playing just out of reach of top 3?

More to come when we face Granada at the Camp Nou this saturday.
Very good read.

Granada:

Xavi - Scored the winner and changed the game.
Valdes - That save before Xavi's goal was crucial. The game could've been lost there.
Alves - Bossed the defense.

1. Valdes (man ...that save was epic)
2. Xavi (changed the game when he came on and scored)
3. Alves (was an absolute beast today ...both in defence and attack)

Game changed immediately when Pedro and Xavi came on.

Xavi- great goal and fantastic movement/possession inside the bus
Pedro- able to launch attacks from the wings better than any other Barça player except perhaps Iniesta
Mascherano- some key tackles on the counterattacks

Honorable mention- Sanchez. Worked hard to create chances
Dishonorable- Cesc tries to play casual, but unlike Xavi, but doesn't know when the opposition is closing him down, lost the ball 4-5 times? Xavi kicks into an extra gear when he feels pressure coming.

1. Xavi
2. Valdes
3. Messi (People will moan at me, but I thought he created so many chances, just tonight the defense matched him. He was still dangerous)

*Alves, Masch & Song played OK too
