Thanks to both of you. I quite enjoy doing this, so I'll certainly keep it up as long as people bother voting.

Great work. I'll definitely participate in the MOTM votings just to read your reviews afterwards. Although the votings will never reflect the true performances on the pitch but rather the players with the most highlight moments. For example I can't agree with Valdes being the second best performer. That Valdes save was 90 % poor finishing. Valdes knew nothing about it. When you're a striker and you are 1 on 1 infront of goal and shoot directly at the keeper in the middle, it's piss poor finishing. Imagine if Messi missed a 1 on 1 like that. No one would hail the keeper. People would blame Messi. I mean, what else could Valdes have done anyway? Except standing where he was? Valdes had to deal with 3 shots on target all night. 2 of them non-threatening at all. Second best performer? NO way. Can't agree with Mascherano either. He was the one who actually let the striker run away at Valdes in the first place. xaviniesta posted a picture in the Song thread. Surviving that situation was pure luck on our part. A better striker scores from there 9 out of 10 times. It's a great highlight moment though which people will remember the most in the game and hence why they voted Xavi (for the memorable goal) and Valdes (for the memorable "save") as the top 2 performers.

As for Busquets being ranked so low. Yeah, well. Defensive midfield is a bitch. Especially when you are a finesse DM like Busquets and not a destroyer like Mascherano or Makelele with spectacular tackles. Strikers score goals and get their highlight moments. Attacking midfielders do fancy passes and assists and get their highlight moments. Defenders do fancy tackles and get their highlight moments. And goalkeepers make spectacular saves and get their highlight moments as well. But Busquets? Busquets rarely provides highlight moments. His worth is only noticeable when he doesn't play and gets replaced by Mascherano or Song and all of a sudden the ball doesn't move as quickly and fluidly as before.

Or they just won 2nd and third because the rest were extremely bad... you know the best of the worst... (minus Xavi )

Thanks buddy.
I pretty much agree with all of your points, and these rankings shouldn't be seen as much more than a fun gimmick.
However regarding Busi, he's usually extremely well liked and appreciated on these forums, and while he's not been bad by any means this season, I don't think he's hit top form yet (then again, aside from perhaps Xavi, who has, right?). I'm pretty sure he'll be a frequent guest on the rankings once he does though. Sure there are the odd members out there who'd still, for whatever imaginable reason, want to see Yaya as DM again, but overall his contribution has been publicly applauded for a long time here.

Hah, up untill about the 87th minute of the match, I was actually contemplating changing the name of this edition of the rankings to exactly that: The best of the worst.

Almost never is a player from the losing team MOM. The Granada game was an exception, Tono was MOM.

Sevilla

1. Messi great performance, two assist, and started the first goal, always onwards
2. Fabregas not far behind, two goals
3. Villa with winning goal

Everyone else in the shit list, every single one.

Villa - class winning goal
Messi- assists
Xavi- holding it together when it's falling apart

As for Cesc, his best moment was a cutback pass inside the box from the left that no Barça player could tap in. Lost the ball often on idiot runs. Shameful dive, though Medel was being just as big a dickhead. Happened to be in the right place and, to his credit, didn't shank his shots.
