The Official Barcaforum.com MoM-thread award
La Liga, Levante, away (4-0)

1. Iniesta (55,5%) It was evident that the whole team shifted a few more gears forward during the second half, but Iniesta shifted himself a whole lot more. He went completely /godmode and ate Levante's defense alive ~ Plip
2. Messi (31,5%) Played well today, he was lively but the lack of space restricted him on Levantes smaller pitch. Stepped up with 2 goals to help crack the case when we needed it most ~ aki13
2. Valdes (10,5%) What a great match from Victor, organizing the defense and performing admirably when called upon. He repeatedly saved the clean sheet, especially with that superb double save off of the penalty ~ PacoBjuarez

Well, well, well... apparently Don Andrés saw what Messi did against Moscow in the last edition of The Official Barcaforum.com MoM-thread, and decided to emulated him down to every last possible detail. As a matter of fact, what Iniesta did last night was even more impressive, as not only did every single participant of this thread vote him MotM, but there were far, far more voters this time around. Last round we had 20 voters who all awarded Messi 5 points. This time around though, we had a staggering 37 voters, and all found Iniesta worthy of the maximum score of 5 points.
By looking at these stats alone, it's evident just how dominant his performance against a usually incredibly tough and gritty Levante side was. 3 assists and 1 wondergoal was his tally on the night. Not too long ago, someone on the forum noted how Iniesta doesn't score much, which wouldn't exactly come as news to anyone around these parts, but also that when he decides to score, he really does it with aplomb. His goal last night fits the bill perfectly, as he, on the edge of the penalty area, hammered the ball into the net via the crossbar with no chance in hell for a shell-shocked Munúa.

With exactly 23,5% fewer points, Lionel Messi stands tall in second place. His usual brace - fully assisted by Iniesta of course - took him to an incredible 5 podium placements in a row, and it seems there's no stopping him from winning The Official Barcaforum.com MoM-thread award, and slightly less importantly; overtake Gerd Müllers seminal 4 decades old all time highest goalscorer in a calender year record of 85 goals. While we wait for that to happen, all we can do is praise our luck that Lionel Messi is playing football, and that he's plying his trade at our beloved club.

Last in this weekends rankings, but certainly not least, we have Victor Valdés. It's been more than 2 months since we last saw him on the podium, when he kept a clean sheet against Granada, and more importantly, rescued the team from going 0-1 down in the 84th minute at Camp Nou, when he saved Orellana 1on1 chance. His heroics this time around were epitomized by his splendid double save on the penalty from Barkero and resulting follow-up from Ángel.
10,5% of the votes were sent VV's way on the night, and his performance should rightfully dampen the hate he's been recieving on these forums, at least for a while.

Shout-out of the round goes out to the rest of the team, as they, as an entity, played a hell of a match. The one closest to the top 3 was Xavi, but the fact that he only got 3 points, just goes to show how good the three players gracing the podium were on the night.

Curious facts of the day:

- The match against Levante marked the highest attendance in the thread so far, as we had no less that 37 users voting. That's an astounding increase of 9 people more than the previous record, which was set on the 8th of October when Real Madrid drew 2-2 on Camp Nou.

- Along with Pinto (1 match), Puyol (6 matches) is the sole player with matches under his belt this season, not to have recieved a single vote so far in The Official Barcaforum.com MoM-thread.

That's it for this round of The Official Barcaforum.com MoM-thread award. Keep those votes and great quotes coming, and why not already in two days, when Alavés arrives at the mighty Camp Nou, with the intention of turning around their 3-0 deficit from the first leg of the Copa del Rey?

Villa - If only he and Messi could both play very well in the same match then there would be no stopping them. Glorious free kick.
Thiago - Bossed the game and showed why he is the future.
Adriano - I've criticized him at times in the past for mistakes but he has become such a valuable asset to the squad and a decent goalscorer.
