The Official Barcaforum.com MoM-thread award
La Liga, Athletic Bilbao, home (5-1)
1.
Messi (34,2%)
Was understated in many ways but look at the game and he was key as usual. Delivered the corner for the first, scored the second via a deflection, Dribbled through players and passed to Cesc who set up Adriano and scored the fifth as well as hitting the bar ~ aki13
2.
Cesc (31,6%)
Calm and composed in possession. Put in a couple of hard challenges proving his premier league pedigree, superb work rate and visionary passing ~pawanme10
3.
Pedro (16,2%)
man he was amazing tonight. great dribbling. good movements, always offers for a pass, great link up. this is the pedro we all love ~ xaviniesta
This is getting rather silly. For the 6th time in a row Messi makes it to the podium. 5 of the 6 has been as number 1, just like this time out against Bilbao. 2 more goals, even though the anti-christs at Marca tries whatever devilish trick there is in the book of unspeakable foulness in order to foil the brilliant Argentine, and he's edging ever so close to beating Müllers astonishing record. Messi claimed "just" around a third of the votes, which should serve as a clear indication of the fierce competition on display in todays edition of

Gnashing on Messis heels, Cesc Fabregas makes his comeback to the rankings. It took a month and 9 matches for the prodigal son to return to form, which was done in style, as he scored a goal and served a perfect assist for Adrianos goal. less than 3% separated the two former La Masia teammates, on a night where a single vote placed differently, could have changed the entire scenario and tipped the scale in favour of Fabregas.
This matchdays third place goes to Pedro Eliezer Rodríguez Ledesma, the artist formerly known as Pedrito and now just plain Pedro. A great industrious display with no goals to show for it, unfortunately, earned Pedro around 16% of the votes, which easily ruled him out as a contender for the throne. Pedro isn't looking for a throne to sit upon though, as he's a true company man, happily working his butt off for the greater good of the team. Luckily these are values much appreciated by the faithful members of
The Official Barcaforum.com MoM-thread, as Pedro has now stepped onto the podium 4 tmes this season. Had 3 of these not been 3rd place bronzes, but of a finer metal, surely he'd be higher up in the overall rankings.
Shout-out of the day goes out to the two defenders, Alba and Piqué. Both earned a respectable amount of votes, but unfortunately for them, not quite enough to make the top 3.
Curious facts of the day:
- This round of the
The Official Barcaforum.com MoM-thread marked yet a new record, as the gap between number 1 and 2 was closer than ever. Just 2,6% separated Messi and Cesc, which is an improvement of 0,2% of the old record, which was set the 16th of September, when we beat Getafe 4-1 in Madrid. Back then Messi was edged by Thiago, who won his first and only gold medal in the rankings with 26,6% against Messi's 23,8%.
The Official Barcaforum.com MoM-thread will be back already this wednesday, as the eagles from Lisbon, Benfica, arrive for a - for them at least - crucial Champions League tie. The main focus for Barcelona, who has of course already secured 1st place in the group, will be on whether Messi plays or not, as everybodys eyes are on the La Pulga and Müllers record.
My thanks yet again goes out to the ones I snatch quotes from, both in this thread, and in the respective players threads. From todays quotes, xaviniesta has now featured a combined 6 times, aki13 4 times and lastly pawanme10 2 times. Cheers folks!
