how do the man utd fans here feel about the new rooney contract? to me ir seems a terrible decision.

Hes always brought in more money than he has cost us, if you factor in that plus what it would do to us if we lost him at this point in time, with the results as they are then again it would cost us more. I imagine a comparable situation, although without the 6 months left on the contract, would be Suarez being sold when you finished 7th last year. What seems so terrible about it? He has been our best player this season at least, if we could afford it we had to resign him.

Happy with it in the short term, but probably not so much in the long term. He's still a top player regardless of what any opposition fans might say, and would be a big loss for us if he had left. However, he may well only have a short time left in him before he starts to decline and if that happens sooner rather than later then we'll be stuck with an extremely expensive sub.

i fail to see the similarity, firstly, suarez is a superior player both individually and interms of impact to the club. secondly, renewing suarez with a proportional salary to his performance was a justified move for '7th' but renewing rooney with a ridiculous salary putting him up their with messi and ronaldo is preposterous considering his turning 29 and his sale price isn't what it used to be.

You did not have champions league football, like we wont. Who would you have replaced Suarez with? Similarily who would we with Rooney? He is our best player this season, and also our biggest commercial factor would have been stupid. Yeah its a lot of money, though better in his pocket than the glazers.

Embarrassing for the club & it's fans, extending a player who has been looking for a way out for a few seasons now given a bumper deal...should make for perfect harmony in the locker room

What's the alternative? We need him more than ever at the minute, so it comes down to either losing him (probably to a big rival) or give him a reason to stay. Not ideal, but the best thing to do in the short term, though time will tell if it works out long term.

In other United news. Barring a couple of injuries at the back, the lineup for the Crystal Palace game is pretty much the team the fans have been crying out for. Looking forward to the game today for a change.

Score was irrelevant, impressed by the performance though, granted it was Palace. We actually mixed it up a bit and looked a bit more fluid. More of that please Moyesy. Its interesting when our one other midfielder plays pretty well, so do we, im shocked.
