I am not bad mouthing him. . . Forgive me if I am, but I don't ever see him becoming first 11 material.

Alaba, Nastasic, Varane, Phil Jones,Iñigo Martínez, Chris Smalling are all age mates with Batra. Why should his case be any different from theirs? We pamper these academy guys way too much if you ask me.

He will only get better from here. Good to see the management counting on him for the biggest game of the season.

He was on and off yesterday IMO. He did well enough though, considering:

1) Our whole team played like shit
2) His inexperience

He should be kept next season, since we need depth, though a loan would be better for his development. I don't think we need 2 new CBs, since Pique, Puyol, Bartra, Masch and 1 new CB should be enough. Hope Bartra gets a lot more playing time next season though.

He did much better than expected. His confidence must have been shattered given the number of minutes he got this whole season. For god's sake even adriano was higher in the pecking order than him. Then he gets thrown out against the best team in the world atm in a super high profile UCL semi match. He also covered the right flank whenever some attack came and alves was in the other half. And above all, the only 2 real attempts we had came through him.

Lets admit it. This kid doesnt belong in starting 11 and is not Barca material. He is ok for la liga games but thats it. He's just not world class and never will be.

Hummels seems to go to bayern too.. its a shame but bartra will never be good enough.. we need a second tall and big defender like vidic.ferdinand.alex.silva.hummels.subotic etc

No. He's performing as good as Pique or even better (and is obviously younger). He is a world class defender in the making, just needs more playing time and experience.

He should start in every game till the end of the season.

Barta world class in the making????!! He isnt.

That is part of the problem too much trust is being given to youth products despite the fact they have not been good enough or not performing.

To compete with the best teams better defenders than Barta are needed.

Are you kidding me ?? Did you even watch Barca this season at all ? He appeared in total of 14 matches in all competitions this season and most of those were in 70-80 mins as sub. Defending needs experience which requires more minutes. He was one of our top 3 players yesterday and way better than Pique (including aerial battles). He showed his heart.

Same thing is happening with Montoya, he needs experience and still alves gets the start every match while adding zero to our defense. When other are injured, management throws them against big teams.

Pique and Pedro on the other hand are different cases. They should be benched for the rest of the seasons.

I'd be nervous too if I saw my team getting outplayed in front of me and the opposition really focused on capitalising on any mistake. In fact I would say that both Pique and Barta in this game were possibly under more pressure than any other CB pairing in history.

I'm not just talking about pressure of the tournament. I'm talking about the pressure applied from the opposition and also the responsibilities handed to the defenders. In this game both Bartra and Pique had a lot of the ball and it was constantly coming back to them. They also were given limited protection by the rest of the team. Has there ever been a game where the CBs have had so much of the play?

yeah, thats correct, they had ball so much on their feet, they were more like our midfielders than defenders
