I can't believe people are actually blaming Tito's illness for his bad management of the youngsters. Sure, in the context of the entire season, you could cut him and the team some slack because of his health issues, but using his cancer as an excuse for decisions he made and things he did on purpose is absurd, and also wrong on a moral level. The guy was alive and well when he said he didn't know about Thiago's release clause and that he chooses players based on performance and not contracts, and he was also around at the end of the Liga season when he intentionally left Thiago on the bench, where he actually could have used the opportunity (we were already champions) to give the kid some well-deserved playing time (since he had no trust for him earlier) and get his release clause back to 90 million. This, for example, had nothing to do with cancer, it was just pure bullshit. Should I even mention things like playing an off-form Alves for like a billion games in a row, when Montoya was in exceptional form and deserved a shot? Or, maybe... just maybe... the Bartra situation? Just face it, there's no defending Tito, when these things are concerned. The guy did a terrible job managing the youngsters and that's all there is.

Hopeful for Tito's recovery but I'd never want him back as coach...some people are better suited to being a #2

In a few weeks time Marc has gone from talent to somewhat established player. Good to have him aboard. We'll be seeing a lot more this season from our most in form defender. :)

Why the *uck do they have new jerseys already? This is the fourth jersey they've had in less than 2 years. And it's horrendous, to boot. :lol: Also, #10 for a center back? LOL.

it could be said as well that Martino has definitely had a positive impact on Bartra. just like Alexis being in his best form as well as Adriano, Valdez etc, its no coincidence that Bartra has been in fine form which del Bosque has now taken notice of.

When Tito didn't have any options last season he used Song or Adriano at CB against teams like Deportivo or Mallorca. When Tata didn't had any options, he used Bartra.

When Tata used Bartra, he had already ran out of LBs to spare, and already had Song's last season's performances there to refer to (as well as the few attempts of his this season, to look like a part of the defensive line).

On top of that, he had this season's Bartra to use.

"This season's Bartra" is the way he is precisely because he is being used.

Though I loved the pairing of Muniesa and him in Barca B for entertainment reasons, the thought of him being used when he was promoted was frankly scary. While showing talent in some areas, he seemed too absent minded to keep following what's going on around him for through-out any proper length of time. Once he started to loose focus, keep out of sight for a while, and you were free to make any run you liked. Throw that in, and you have an easy target for fans to hate.

This season's Bartra is a Bartra with a year more practice against the attackers we have. The way he has put that into use is amazing, and must've taken hard work. All the credit to him for that.

@Galning

I hear you on your told ya so. You have been defending him since the summer and tip of the hat to ya sir.

I just want a few of you to go back to Bayern-Barça thread and take a look at the thrashing he got on here after that game. Many were saying he was a complete dud.

I always saw potential in him and his form now shows the foundation of why I love this club and why we will always have an edge over all other clubs: our cantera. I'll always have mixed feelings with Tito, but one thing I must say is that I was always disappointed with the lack of time our youth players received.

I'd say it's 70% of the reason why Thiago left, and it's why Bartra struggled so much against Bayern then. Throwing him into the den's lair cold with no prior game time and thinking he would succeed was asinine from Tito.

All our youth players need is experience and solid game time to flourish. I watched Bartra in the Euro 21s and he was fantastic. His quality was always there, he just needed a coach that shows confidence in him.

Bartra has been impeccable this season. He's only been at fault for about two half chances this entire season. Just imagine how Thiago would look if Tata had gotten a hold of him...

So in sum, no disrespect to Tito and I hope he recovers soon but Tata>Tito.
