He should stay. Mascherano is getting old ditto Mathieu. Vermaelan is no spring chicken either and spends the entire season watching from the sidelines. If Alves leaves make Batra a RB. Kid is a humble team man and deserves to stay and stake a claim for a starting spot.

Apparently his buyout dropped to 10 mil. because he didn't play enough minutes.
Our negotiators must be the stupidest in top football. Seems like every footballer here has a bye-bye clause if things don't go their way.
So amateurish.

Thiago all over again. I really hope Bartra stays though.

It's such a stupid rule, like automatically if a manager doesn't play a player enough, the buyout drops drastically so any club can trigger it, basically puting the futur of our youngsters in the hands of any manager.. stupid stupid stupid!

Let's not forget that Marc is one of the most loyal player that we have in our current squad.
I don't think that he'll leave because his girlfriend is pregnant, she lives and works in Barcelona... He deserves to play more though, always played at a high level and never disappointed.

Our negotiators are stupid though. Pretty sure that they are the same that made Thiago's contract.

If he's smart he'll take the hell off and not look back. Club doesn't give a rat's ass about him or his feelings so why should he care about them? It's just like Thiago's situation, except Thiago was humorously benched even after we secured the title.

It's called a "negotiation" for a reason. Agents demand this sort of things in the best interest of the player they're representing. It's no ones fault, just the way thing are.

Btw, this doesn't mean squat. Bartra will leave only if he wants to leave. Buy-out clause only works if the players wants to leave, like Thiago. No one forced Thiago to leave, he chose it. No one will force Bartra to leave, he'll chose it.

Bartra is where he is. He's not better than Pique, he's not even better than Mascherano, and he doesn't bring the same skillset as Mathieu. He played the minutes he needed to play. If he wants to leave to play more, that's his choice, just like if he wants to stay, improve and earn more minutes is also his choice.

Marc's not leaving. He's a cule through and through. I'd imagine they'll offer him a new contract either way.

Lol...

He wont leave, he knows he is in a good position. We have 2 CBs who are 30+ and Bartra is the only young CB in the squad. Plus he is blaugrana through and through.

No way he leaves.

He could play every single week at practically any other club right now, especially in England. Doing well over there would make our board/coach see how well he's doing and decide they want him back.

He'll absolutely never be anything more than 4th/5th choice if he stays here, that much is certain.

+1 The ball playing skills he has as a barca midfielder (defender leaving it there cause its pretty funny) put him on another level on top of his already great defending.

There are no guarantees due to how inept this board has been and the atmosphere they have created at the club by devaluing the cantera...Bartra has said all the right things you'd hope to hear but the reality is that many of his teammates from the youth sides are all either transferred or looking to move on due to lack of minutes or being counted on by the club

Let's also not forget that Bartra & his agent agreed to this sort of clause for all the aforementioned reasons

He's Catalan and he's come through the academy but there are simply no guarantees...Mascherano & Piqué will continue to be picked at head of him in the lineup for the near future and assuming Vermaelen recovers, even less possible minutes than this season

In the end, the player can decide and part of this debacle is rooted in the de-emphasis of La Masia and a point I touched on several years earlier...It's no longer the Guardiola/Laporta era where the club was focused on building a team from within...Now players are loaned, transferred or simply shuttled from one club to another

Bartra's buyout fee hasn't dropped. It's 25M, would become 12M if he plays less than 50 games in 2 seasons, but already played 54. [md]
