I actually think he'll be a constant starter actually, nebeer. IMO, he's better than Santon, and we WILL NOT attempt to play Abidal every game. Muniesa will get that spot.

What a player! In the Copa final against Athletic Bilbao, he played like a true veteran, I could've smacked the ref myself when he gave Muniesa that red card... With only 16 years of age, this one is a player for the future... In 3-4 years time, he can be part of the central defending duo with Piqué... Sergio Busquest our defending midfielder, Iniesta and Cesc Fabregas our attacking midfielders, Assulin, Bojan and Messi our attacking trio and Valdes in the goal... 9 out of 11 all Barça youth, only the right and left defending flanks need to be purchased!

for some reason i do not remmber him in the copa final...... are you sure he came on?? i pretty sure he did not the red card was harsh but it was good to see the team spirit and the crowd's support that game

No he didnt play in the copa. It was piqué and touré the whole game if i remember. But still, i think the red card was a blessing in disguise for muniesa. He instanlty became remembered by the fans (unlike several other youth players who have drifted in and out of the squad), had all 85,000 culés on his side after he got sent off, and i do feel that pep, who likes muniesa, included him in the squad half because he wanted him there, and half because he needed a confidence booster after the red card. And what better boost than being in the CL squad and getting a CL medal.

I somehow think a red card was good for him :D

He will me much more mature than just having alright-good-job-thingy match.

i never imagined seeing a what, 16-17 year old, making such a tackle! even xavi got up off the bench yelling at the ref

I felt so angry when Muniesa got sent off. My fists were so tightly clenched and my face was getting redder and redder.

did muniesa have a really serious injury about 12 months ago?

He did, he was injured for a couple of months, so it's very impressive he still made it from Juvenil A to the first team without even having played in Barça Athletic once.

Mostly everything that can be said about Muniesa has been said. I cannot but to join the choir of praisal. He is an extraordinary prospect, and I was more than happy of seeing him gaining some first team experience.

However his sending off was a real shame, because it was a definite yellow, not a freakin' red. Yet, it wasn't the first time, and probably not the last when referee's screw up in La Liga. Despite of his bad luck in his first game, I think he might do some cameos next season :)

Marc Muniesa will travel to London for pre-season. Keeping my fingers crossed for the youngster.
