I genuinely hope he will end his career with no important trophies at all, so he can be a warning for all young ambitious football-players (yes, I'm bitter).
All in the Monaco-team has better CL-results than him, now - I love that.

We will not get him, so fans need to move on, we need to be focusing and getting those emerging players before they sign for big clubs.

While also looking out for instances where WC players like kroos is available on the cheap & do anything to get them.

At what point during the transfer window will our board realize that signing either of Verratti and Coutinho is impossible. Will it be 3 weeks into the transfer window or a day before it closes?

Not sure how much of experience Robert has with signing big name players. I'm afraid that he is going to spend the entire window trying to sign some superstar that won't happen, and before he realizes it, it might be too late to actually remodel the squad with better realistic alternatives.

Watch him sell Denis to finance Leon Goretzka, who has contact with Schalke until 2018, for the same amount in the first week :tata:

I fear the same as you with regards to Verratti (although nothing suggests that we are after him), but Coutinho is surely buyable, don't you think? If the player pushes Liverpool (he will do that) and Barca offers 80-90 M € he is ours, I'm quite sure of that.

I don't think so. Liverpool have been struggling to get into the Champions League for a number of years. Now that they are finally there, why would they sell their best player to a rival in the Champions League.

We may not see it as Barcelona fans, but Liverpool fans will have the intention of wanting to win the Champions League. Whether it is realistic or not does not matter. Selling Coutinho would basically signal to the fans of the club that Liverpool does not care about winning. I can't see Liverpool taking that step.

Maybe, I don't know that much about the PL - but wouldn't Liverpool-fans forgive him? I mean he has been there since 2013, and played on another level than his teammates for many years. It is not like Hazard who flirts with Real Madrid at any given opportunity, he has been more loyal during the years, and now finally brought them to CL. With that in mind the club can attract better players to replace him as well, he extended his contract so that they can get the full amount of money for him - so it is not black & white.

Liverpool with ambitions in the CL is fine, but forcing their loyal, well-liked and probably best player to stay because of it? I'm not sure. Of course my analysis depends on that he wants to come here, but that is pretty obvious to me..

They won't.

Football fans or sports fans in general tend to be irrational.

 We've no chance of competing for the CL next year - IF WE GET THERE! as we still have to beat Boro and get past a qualifier.

But yeah we've no chance of winning the CL next year and we all know this. Each of the teams in the semis this year would have schooled us.
