Marco Verratti

To be fair, I really don't think Verratti meeting with Messi would be a good thing. If anything, it would upset Nasser even more and our minimal chances (I'd say around 1% at this time and that's pretty optimistic) to get Marco would become 0,000000000000000000000%. Of course they could say they met coincidental because they were at the same time at the same place but them hanging out publically at this time still don't think it would do us a favour. Anyway, if rumours are true we have to convince PSG, not Verratti.

It's one thing if Verratti's agent is talking with Barça's representatives (agents are doing this all the time to keep options open for their players) and we have to do that to see if Verratti has real interest to join us and if it even makes any sense to start negotiating with PSG but it's totally another thing talking directly with the player so I hope whichever Barça representatives are currently in Ibiza (If there really are anyone there) won't use that approach. I know these things happen all the time but it's just not right IMO. We also weren't happy when there were rumours that PSG has talked with Neymar and even Messi behind Barça's back.

I don't think a club is allowed to negotiate with a player without the permission of his club so Barcelona will not do this. And this Ibiza story is just media. Verratti is in Ibiza, so is Messi with Cesc but Cesc is not joining Barcelona. Also nothing wrong if they met each other. Football players are not enemies. Alot of people go on holiday to Ibiza. Theo Hernandez for example is also in Ibiza, but he isn't joining Barcelona either. If he was linked with Barcelona twitter would explode with rumors.

Teams can have all the money in the world but with the modern day players power, they would get the move if they wanted it. Barcelona, Madrid etc are once in a lifetime opportunities and 99% of players make the move once the interest is there. I really think the chances of Verratti being at Barca at some point are much higher than some people think.

Cesc is Messi's former teammate, they are good friends since their times at La Masia and everyone knows that. Nobody from Chelsea will be upset because he's spending his time with Messi. Hell, based on his current status there maybe they even hope they could sell him back to us.

If Messi and Verratti would also be friends and spend holidays together in previous years nobody would make much noise out of that if they'd be together at Ibiza right now but in current situation it could be more suspicious. Especially for PSG people who we really don't want to upset if we want to keep any options to sign him.

It's one thing if Messi and Verratti would just met on the beach (but even this could seem suspicious) and talk for a few minutes and another if they'd have a - what people would think to be a pre-arranged - dinner together as was rumoured. I know that supposed dinner didn't happen last night and it probably never will but in current situation I'd just prefer if they wouldn't be seen together publicly at all because this wouldn't fare well with Nasser and his people who are clearly aware of everything that's going on.

You are right. The badass :neymar: difference between these situations is that Neymar and Messi didn't want to join that plastic club because they already played for the best club. On the contrary, Verratti seems to be very interested to join us and in the end we are doing nothing different what they did last year. Makes this case not better, but if a player really wants to leave a meal together won't change anything. Everything is up to Verratti and PSG now. It is a very difficult situation for Verratti himself, because he will need to push for the transfer and could end up at a PSG if some things don't work out. Then he is at a club where he doesn't want to be anymore and his relationship to the representatives will be way worse than it was before. It isn't easy for PSG either. Verratti is their future, but he (probably) wants to leave and a player who is somewhere else in his head isn't always the best player. I expect them to extend his contract with more salary, promise him quality signings and to try the "It's all water under the bridge" after some months even when he tried to push for the transfer.

A player we've needed since Xavi left. Him and Semedo would be a perfect summer transfer window.

PSG will never sell their best players. Same goes for Chealse, City. They don't need money. The end of the story.

If Verratti starts to force a move i think they would much rather have 100m than an unhappy player that has his head elsewhere. Unhappy players can spread lots of negativity in the dressing room (which could cause huge problems), bring the performance down of the entire team, lots of crap to the media etc etc. They dont need money, but 100m is still A LOT and it is enough for them to invest into pretty much any player they would like.

I trust Nasser. Nobody forced him to do smtg. Qataris are stubborn.

Plus, Barca doesn't have the money. If Pogba costs 110 M€, i can't imagine the price of Verratti.

Verratti has probably realised that Barca is Barca and PSG is PSG. The weakest Barca in CL since 2007 and we still put 6 past PSG in 1 game.
