He can replace him because psg plays with matuidi, rabiot/motta. James can play on different position and with those midfielders he won't be the key player for defensive tasks.

its flawed approach to think that the club is always thinking to get a player similar to the one they are losing. There is a chance the emery might be rethinking how he would lineup with james (in a redefined role) after losing verratti.

The tweet says the lawyer advised him. I don't think the lawyer is deciding on his career moves. Only about his contract obligations. So it's just saying he will join them because to avoid problems, not necessarily for the sportive part. Alot of players have preseason and then join another team.
