Marco Verratti

put in an actual serious offer in the next few days instead of fannying around like we usually do?

also thats why i said he'll be persuaded to stay. avoiding problems will end up in him signing a new improved contract, buying from PSG is a unique situation without kicking up a fuss he's staying there.

No offer will make any difference until PSG think they cant keep him.

May well be persuaded to stay and sign new contract but a bid just now wont make any real difference.

'Kicking up a fuss' could make PSG more inclined to dig their heals in and not want to lose face.

The club need to keep quiet and try and let Verratti and PSG work things out for now.

The same people who say we should move on will be the ones who'll yell that our board is stupid for not pushing for him after he decides to renew his contract.

I get what you're saying but kicking up a fuss is the only way i see this transfer happening with the situation. if he kicks up a big enough fuss the PSG fans will turn on him making things easier for Nasser to save face by selling him for a record fee. no chance they will keep a want-away player who disrespects the club when they can get a new transfer record fee out of it. he needs to be aggresive like PSG's president, being passive he'll be stuck there until contract end.

just my thoughts though, you could be right and they sort things out in a respectable manner, hopefully that is the case

I'm one of the "let's move on" proponents but I'm not blaming the board for not pushing him. If PSG doesn't want to negotiate there's nothing you can do. The only thing we could do is to send high ranked club official to assure Veratti that our intentions are serious. The board that that as well. Now it's between Nasser the asshole and Veratti.

My comments were in relation to Barca being more aggressive with the transfer not Verratti.

Barca needed to persuade Verratti that he should move and needed for him to push to leave after that it is between Verratti and PSG. There is nothing to be gained by going in with a bigger bid just now other than pissing off PSG further which helps nothing.

A couple weeks ago I had a little faith, now I have absolutely zero hope that he signs with us, better to accept the inevitable than hold out for the impossible.

He still wants to leave. His lawyers adviced him to return to Paris.

Not a lot of players do this. We can only speculate. We don't know what's happening, what everyone is doing and what they tell to each other.

It doesn't matter if he wants to leave, PSG will never agree to sell unless Verratti goes public with this and makes it hell for them.

And even then (if Verratti + agent do ALL they can to force PSG) they could just say f*** you Verratti, you have a contract - there is the bench. And PSG would look like having the moral highground in any other than Barca-fans eyes, because the spoiled player who signs extensions every year suddenly has a change of heart and wants out - that is not a fairytale story for any other than Barcafans.

Prediction:
Verratti will turn up to their first training, but will look a bit uneasy and worried in his facial expressions and Barcaforum will interpret this as Verratti to Barca confirmed.
