It's not a ''number''.It's 9 number.It is associated with the best striker at a club.This club is Barcelona.And we had a lot of incredible number 9's,we are not frecking Getafe.How would have been if Messi would have left this summer and we would have gave the number 10 to idk...Alena?Or Pedri?It's exactly the same.It would have been an outrage.What Braithwaite has demonstrated in his football career to be a number 9 at Barca?Suarez was made a donkey,a nothing player player in his last seasons,but even now he's at least twice the player ''MB9'' is.This club has become a mediocre club,and the fans seem to accept this.Pathetic.

You would be ok with Alena as number 10 then?Football is all about tradition.Certain numbers bears some weight,than why would Cristiano Ronaldo have his acronym as CR7?Look at every big club in the world,certain numbers are mystified because of the past players that wore them,Best had number 7 at United,than Ronaldo had it....Raul had 7 at Madrid,after Ronaldo had it...etc.

Some traditions are stupid, the only reason players may care for numbers is marketing purposes it genuinely means fucks all other than in the mind of idiots. The number 7 for better or worse is universally recognised as a lucky number, that may be why certain players may also be drawn more to it? '
Having said that a majority of football players are dumb as fuck...
Also I literally couldn't care less what number a player wears, it should've of been clear from my post.
To put things into perspective you're getting worked up over a player wearing a particular number when there's so much more important shit to get worked up over in football in general let alone all over the world.

i don't think its about the number per se. it's more about the fact we did a shitty job of getting a competent striker in the squad and we had to throw the 9 jersey on to some guy who just happened to be here.
same goes for other numbers. the state of the squad is dire, considering all the success of the last 10-15 years.

Ofcourse players make the number memorable.That's what i was saying too.That's why you really can't put that number on Braithwaite,considering who wore it in Barca's long history.He really shouldn't have a place in our rooster too,but that is another discussion.Bartomeu really fucked this club so badly,it's incredible.
