Caceres was never given a fair go don't kno what he has done 2 warrant being deemed surplus 2 requirements though i'm sure if he'd been given the chance he would have shone just like a Pique or a Busquets.........................During his 1st season he was limited 2 cameo appearances even when barca were in dire straights as far defensive options were concerned Pep preferred 2 play players out of position rather than to give Caceres a chance. I watched him play several times 4 Juve, he looks competent and confident on the ball with excellent pace and exceptional strength. His final ball and and long passing left alot to be desired but still he's what 22? There's still so much canvas to work with it would be an awful shame to scrap the whole painting. In the end Pep and the rest of the gang can talk as much as they want about introducing youth players, but as they showed yesterday they are not quite capable yet. Introducing them slowly then sieving out the gold from the dirt would be a more use full venture..............Not all player from the youth system are as talented as we're told and not every youth teamer can play for barca....There i said it.

I think caceres's lack of chances has alot to do with him not doing well in training

I seem to remember certain clips of training in which Pep didnt seem thrilled with cacere's work

but for the record i hope he gets a chance bc we kinda need him this season..

keep him... play as back up for RWB so that Alves won't get as arrogant as he some times seems (and his tendency to expose the defense keeps frustrating me), play Adriano at LB(he says it's his natural position) and Maxwell at LW or LM role(where he showed good ease the few he played)

Caceres took the team photo, so I guess we will find out what that means. I think Pep may have no choice but to keep Caceres given the situation in defense and the fact he doesn't want to sign anyone. Caceres is pacey and can play all four positions.

I think we should keep him and give him his chance. I think he has potential and he seems like a typical Barca player (humble, doesn't cause trouble).

Perhaps he has impressed, or atleast, given the fact that Guardiola is confident that we can rely on what we have instead of getting ourselves in more debt, he is one of the best defenders on our books.

I wouldn't mind it, he's a decent hard-working guy and does have immense potential if he can get over his rashness and stupidity. plus he's a magnificent flag-waver.

hell, maybe we could convert him into a DM. an aggressive "tackle everything!" type.

His biggest weaknesses are he tends to turn his back to attackers when 1 vs 1 and of course his rash decision making. Rash decision making is something that is usually very easy to work on, especially given he was only 21 when making those mistakes in the first place. His decent positioning, defensive qualities (like good at clearing) and PACE makes him valuable imo. A rough gem that just needs a little cutting.

His problems can be fixed- dont understand why Pep can't see that. He rather bring in a slow, useless player like Chyg whose qualities doomed him in Spain in the first place.

Am I missing anything fellas?! Marquez gone, Chyg sold. That leaves Pique, Puyol, Milito and only Abidal as a CB option (and he really isn't suited for it anymore, imo). People are raging over not getting a new DM signing but I think a new CB is twice as important. If we don't buy, Caceres is definately our best option....and I dont see us buying much better unless we're willing to spend 20-25mil+ again. Hopefully if we do, which we wont, Pep will spend it more wisely this time...
