Martin Montoya

I've always said that the ideal thing would be to employ Montoya at RB and LB at LB. That way Alba can be the fullback that bombs forward (the most) and Montoya stays back more to give the midfield more freedom (Alves constrains the midfield to defend more and we basically have no midfield).

Just keep him in the team until January 16. If he hasn't developed then go big on a starting right back that month. Use Adriano as rotational back up.

Alves and Douglas are useless.

Nice to see him out of the dog house and get an assist was really telling Lucho - why did you get a no name Dougass instead of me.

i think he's been treated pretty badly by Lucho so far. i assume something has happened behind the scenes that we don't know about because i really don't get it.

i'd start him ahead of Alves. i'm fed up with Dani and have been for the last 2-3 years. he can't defend and he offers next to nothing going forward nowadays. i don't want to watch his terrible crosses and abysmal attempts at shooting anymore.

Douglas isn't even worth mentioning (why did we sign him?!) :zubi:

Juan de Dios Carrasco (Montoya's agent): "The game against Huesca has not changed the situation, the feelings are the same."

Carrasco (agent Montoya): "Luis Enrique is in charge. Barca can see Montoya as an asset but they can't go against the coach"

Carrasco (agent Montoya): "Martin said there were never problems between him and Enrique and I believe his words."

Carrasco (agent Montoya): "Only Luis Enrique knows what has happened to arrive at this situation".

If it's also true that there has never been problems between them, you really start wondering what on earth Lucho has been thinking in his handling of Montoya. Was he hoping that if he didn't play him it would pressure him to train extra hard and improve quicker off the pitch? In the pressers Lucho has stated over and over that he should keep working hard and that his situation could change.

Whatever Luchos idea behind his handling of Montoya was, it sure was incredibly stupid.

It's pretty obvious that Lucho is innocent and Martin's name never came out the hat that Lucho uses to pick line-ups every week. :lucho:

This guy should be our no2 RB in tough games and our no1 RB in the lesser home games. I'd start him against Cordoba at home.
