Tuttosport isn't a very credible source, they're like the Daily Mail of Italy. So don't get too excited here. Besides, it's pretty much impossible for Inter to qualify for CL, maybe it meant EL and was mistranslated... couldn't find the original article.

It's not unlikely... We wanted him already last summer. He is very talented, his playing style is comparable te Iniesta (much more raw of course), but has been benched lately. So I don't think Inter will ask too much for bench player. Can be bought for 15 mil IMO. He's AM (like I said potential Iniesta replacement) so we still need to buy CM with him. Gundogan+Kovacic would be very affordable option, but when we get new board (not IF the elections result is sure thing after recent scandals), they will certainly aim much much higher (Verratti+Pogb+RB).

He's been benched because Mancini wants to ease him in and have him earn his spot, not overplay him because he's still young etc. It's not because of poor performance. If he's sold it would be for much more than 15m.

Don't you think team desperately trying to reach EL qualifying spot would be starting their best players during spring regardless of their age? It simply shows he's not indispensable for this squad/coach and those players don't go for a lot of money especially if he'll want out of club, that won't play even if EL.

He just recently signed a contract extension, which usually means two things: the club either has every intention of keeping him, or want to be able to sell him for big money. He also wouldn't have agreed to an extension if he himself wanted out. I think he will stay at least one more year and see what happens when Mancini has a full season.

He has some flaws for now:
1. in 90% of matches for Croatian NT, he was horrible and always the biggest flop. When Modric, Rakitic and Kovacic play together, he is expected to be an Amc and to build some actions, but 90% of time he don't create anything and end up substituted in the 60th minute
2. in Inter, he is extremely hot and cold, and as one of my friends (who is Inter's fan) always says about him:
= he has extreme potential and everything, but for some reason he creates only 1-2 good actions per match, and the rest of the match he just stands, plays simple passes and "watch" the match
-- he wanted to say: Kovacic has the ability (like Messi, for example), to take the ball by himself and to create 10-15 dangerous actions per match, and he would need get some courage and repeat that over and over and over all the time, to impose himself as the leader and as a key man
-- but for some reason, he does that 1-2 in 90 minutes, and the other 88 minutes he just lets "someone else" to create the actions
-- as if he is daydreaming and bored during matches, he is not interested, or he doesn't believe in himself or something

He has the potential to be a good and smart player, but it is very questionable if he will ever get to that level. Something is wrong currently with his mental attitude.

In this moment, buying him could turn out to be an awesome move (once when he develops fully), or as another flop and as an average, not good enough player (Afellay type, for example. Good player, but not good enough for Barca)

For now, Kovacic hasn't managed to impose himself as a leader neither in Croatian Nt nor in Inter.
And Barca is two levels above both Croatian NT and Inter.

Adviser Braida dined with Inter sports director Ausilio on Tuesday. Discussed Inter player Mateo Kovacic (20). Would cost at least 40M. [md]

Nice one dakt.
Yeah, Mateo hasn't impressed with Inter nor Croatia but both play shit football (despite having good players). I think he'd thrive at Barca with his skillset and under watchful eye of Rakitic.
