Rafinha isnt a wonderkid anymore IMO (if he ever was it). He is one month older than Pogba.

Still a better bet than kovacic for us.
A better player, more experienced, more talented, in better form, wont cost us a dime, acquainted with the team, fellow players, la masia product, has lucho's trust, and his role is increasingly growing, he knows his role and plays good, and has had a number of good performances, we won't suffer because of maladaptation as we would with kovacic simce Rafinha has been here and has alreeady adapted,

Kovacic as iniesta replacement?
He has similar style of play but talentwise i doubt he will reach anywhere close to iniesta level

Rumour has it that we paid 100m for Neymar 2 years ago and he had only a year left on his contract. Thats crazy, as players with only a year left usually reduce the transfer fee by half (even if they are more in demand because of short contract).

No, we never paid 100m for Neyboi. It was more like 87m maximum and he was the number one young talent on the planet something which he proves correct today. Pogba is at least one level beneath that. No way he i worth 100m. 70m devalued euros at the max, otherwise Juventus can keep him. That's my opinion.

As for Kovacic, oh lowdy! 25m tops. And that is pushing it.

That was my well-thought out, nuanced response as well. Just: :rofl1:

Kovacic at anything above 25 M is madness, and we have rafinha, why would we want to buy similar players every damn time? Our desire now is to have a cm not another attacking mid cause we already have iniesta rafinha and suarez
Pogba at 120 m is waaay too much, 70 m maximum
Gundogan for 32-40 M is fair i guess
Koke doesnt want to leave atleti

Its true, we dont know what we paid for Neymar, but it was a lot. But look at his contract situation back then. Even if it was 87m as you say, that is an insane amount of money for a player with 1 year left on his contract that hadnt played in Europe. You cant ignore the contract situation. Just look at the history and you see that players with 1 year left on their current contract goes for about 40-50% of their normal value in the market, regardless of their hype and demand.

Agreed on all accounts.
Also add to that the fact that it would send a terrible message to any other Barca youngster, who could be hoping to make the jump to the first team in the near future (though there's probably just Samper around these days, who could have a realistic shot at that).

Its true, it probably wont send a good message to the youngsters if we start to buy younger players, but we must also think about the health of our team IMO. Players like Denis Suarez, as much as it pains to say it, probably will never be good enough for us, the same with Deulofeu. The jury is still out on Samper I guess, but he probably will be loaned out next season.

Neymar was always a brighter prospect than any Pogba. His contract situation was all but irrelevant since we had some kind of pre-agreement with him. Keep in mind that Real Madrid and Chelsea were also prepared to pay top bucks for Neymar. If we did not cough up all that cash, then Uncle Perez would have, and now Nerman would be scoring against us wearing a brilliant white shirt alongside Penaldo.

Neither is Gundogan worth all that money. Where do people get these crazy valuations from? I know the market is inflated, but a player must have done at least something to warrant crazy numbers. The last few times I saw Gundogan play, he did not look anything special at all.

It's the current insanely inflated market. Juventus and Raiola have stated he won't be sold for less than that.

Well, they can keep Pogba then. He is not worth 100m + super duper wages. We can look elsewhere.

Sure, we obviously can't rely solely on our youngsters, but I would much prefer to buy established, seasoned additions to the team such as Rakitic. Players who can make an immidiate impact. I'm just not sure that Kovacevic is such a player.

Now I am not saying that transfermarkt is some kind of supreme wisdom on all things football, but their valuations on the players are discussion are:

Pogba - £44m

Kovacic - £19.36m

Gundogan - £17m

Yes, but it is difficult to find players that are available, established and can make an immediate impact. These players are usually labeled world class and already play for big, rich clubs. Rakitic turned out to be a very good addition I agree. Can we find another one like him from smaller clubs? I think many ppl have been surprised how well he has played actually. He wasnt really considered world class when we bought him by most ppl, even if he had played well for a number of years for Sevilla. And even if we find such a player, youngsters will find it hard to get chances on our team if they are barely good enough IMO (like Rafinha or Suarez for example). Super talented players like Iniesta and Xavi coming through the ranks will always make it IMO, simply because they are so talented.

Judging from the reports whenever Barca are mentioned in transfer rumours, the seem to be quite off. But if Pogba is valued at 120m, it makes sense that Kovacic goes for 60m and I think we should be happier with the latter deal. Kovacic isnt CL tied. We might go for Gundogan as well, contract wise and the fact that he is not CL tied makes him interesting, as does Allan from Udinese. Lets hope Gundogan costs far less than 40m considering his contract expires in 2016 and his injury concerns.

lmao 70M for Kovacic. And who is Allan?

Yeah, its pretty crazy. Would you prefer Pogba for 120m or Kovacic for 60m? Allan is a Brazilian CM who plays for Udinese. Fast, strong, great passer and dribbler, superb work rate. Chelsea, Inter, Arsenal and others are linked with him. His contract expires in 2016 and he is not CL tied. He could be a great purchase for us IMO, like Rakitic was.
