No. Barça are not allowed to buy young quality players. We can only buy older, experienced ones because this is Messi's time. Never mind that a part of Messi's time will be ruined when we'll have to replace all the old players at once in 3-4 years instead of gradually adding youth and quality while thinking long-term too.

Our main competitors Bayern and Real Madrid are doing a good job in that regard. Infact even Atletico are doing that.

I remember some posters make the argument that our transfers the last few years in Mathieu, Arda, Vermaelen, etc. are just fine as we have to capitalise as much as we can from Messi's prime instead of buying young and talented players for the future.

It's true, we should be getting players who will immediately make the team better to get the best out of Messi's years. That doesn't mean we shouldn't buy PROVEN and already high quality young players. Not a young player who has had a good half a season or someone like Gerson who hasnt shown anything. Neymar had been great in Brazil for years, same for Hazard in France, Darmian in Italy and Griezman in Spain before AM bought him. Kovacic is also one of these players and I've been saying it for long time already. I'll be crushed if RM sign him...he's absolutely perfect for our LCM.
