Mateo Kovačić

He is such a great player.. did so well vs Espanyol.. can't wait to see what he will do in his second year...

at this young age he is commanding and asking for the ball all the time...

a steal for 35 mil .. and now we can rest Kroos or Modric as much as we want

He's pretty much like Isco but with (much)better passing. I'm hoping that we chill the fck down with buying middlefielders . Buying anything else(except RB) would be acceptable. The only middlefielder that I wouldn't mind getting that much is Dani Ceballos, and only if we're going to loan him for 1-2 years.

You control the midfield .. you control the match

Last year our downfall was the midfield... they are making sure this won't be the case

Kroos- Modric/Casemiro-Kova...
Isco a joker can fill in many spots but mainly for James

Vasquez-Bale-Cheryshev - Ronaldo... on the wings and Jese-Benz in the center...

we are not overloaded at all... 2 players for each position .. i'd like to see Morata back though for Jese ,if the later gained some mental strength if not Zizou is rocking the segunda B and Mayoral is scoring for fun

Cristiano plays on the left and Cheryshev is his replacement. James on the right and Lucas Vasquez is his replacement. So our middlefielders are:
Kroos,Casemiro,Isco,Bale,Modrić,Kovačić,Odeegard(loaned but they'll be here next year)Asensio,Lucas Silva. We also have Omar Mascarell and Medran as loaned out middlefielders but they're not good enough so I won't count them. So I'm not counting Ronaldo,Cheryshev,James & Vasquez since they occupy the wings. I'm also not counting Benzema and Jese since they occupy the front and 2 loaned out players. So there's 3 positions left: 2 middlefielders who play in front of the defense and a central attacking middlefielder. We have 9 players for 3 positions, how is that not overloaded?
These should be our priorities for next year : a great LB to give some competition to Marcelo or at least to relieve. A CB if Pepe/Varane leaves but we shouldn't otherwise since we have Vallejo. Our RB is set and MF only if we're getting Ceballos to loan him out or if some super bargain deals come along. We can buy-back Morata for like 30 M € at most, while we got like 20 M for his transfer. De Gea / Leno could also be an option. So the summary of the next summer:
GK-De Gea/Leno
A LB and a CB only if Pepe/Varane leave
MF - Ceballos or some bargain breakout star
CF- Morata/Lacazette . We have a great complete squad , we can easily do the next transfer window.

I don't know how you think man ?
Ode is back to Castilla , he is not part of the first team.. he got his head straight (so far ) and playing regularly under Zizou ... so why do you count him as first team ?

Lucas Silva unless he dramatically improve like Casemiro improve he will be sold in the summer especially that we don't have an free EU spot for him ...

Asensio is still young and if he comes he will probably replace the Rusky who is looking for regular minutes ..he is primarily a winger so if you are excluding the wingers he should be excluded too ..
that leave as i mentioned plus Ode who will be ready in a year or two and if he is makes it we will have the empty spots whether through Ronaldo departure and moving one of Isco/James to the wings
forget Medran & Omar.. as well Jose Rodriguez.. just because we loaned them doesn't mean they will be back unless our people see something special ..so there is no 9 at all.. it's just 2 for each spot by the book.. and when the Norwegian wood mature there will be a place in the first team.. he is still a young kid

I don't think Kovačić is a kind of player to control the midfield as Modrić is, Xavi, Xabi and Pirlo were.
Having said that, he's still young and might get there under Modrić guidance.

Against Espanyol he was Bojan , he was asking for the ball moving it from right to left & charging to the front with the ball in his feet in a Modric fashion

i really liked him on Saturday.. hope he continue but the early signs is quite good

I agree. Modrić and Kovačić together would remind me of Xavi and Iniesta, respectively, in terms of roles. To me Kovačić is much more of an Iniesta type of player than those you mentioned.

He found the perfect manager to devlop at Real Madrid. If Carlo was still there, he wouldn't have seen a minute of game time yet LOL. Rafa put him in a little after the 2nd half started and RM had won the game.

Anyway, I'm interested to see him develop. From what I saw at Inter, the guy never really had a set position and was moved around a lot. I do think he is a better "Modric" type player though. I hope Croatia goes far in the Euros.

From what i have seen of him, he doesnt strike me as similiar to Iniesta. His ballcontrol is fine, but its not as disgustingly perfect as Iniesta. His touch on the ball doesnt make me think of Iniesta. Certainly he is a big talent though, glad we bought him.

Which means he will never play, unless Ronaldo gets injuried. Good luck Cheryshev, you need it.

Perfect manager for him indeed cuz Benitez seems to rate Kova and Casemiro really highly. He realizes that the key to our success are rested and not injured Kroos and Modrić. Everyone else can be replaced.

Like 99% of everyone else, you blame the injuries entirely on Carlo. I never understood that. Many managers like to play their favorite teams, only Carlo got all the blame for our injuries for it, no one else got that much shit for the lack of rotation ever, it was only Carlo. I give you an example, Modric was injuried basically all the time last season, how can you blame that on Carlo? Because he didnt rotate him? Well, he hardly had a chance to do either, did he? Our injury problems last season was abnormal, like a virus, it couldnt be blamed much on lack of rotation.
