One of RM's tier 1 sources says there is no option for Chelsea to buy in Kovacic's contract

Both Thibaut coming and Kovacic going are good for us...first we have a tall, but quite clumsy GK for my taste, i imagine he will need quite some time adjusting to Madrid's relative high defensive line, he seems to have trouble with those, Madrid has a much less convincing defense than Chelsea. Plus Messi never had much trouble scoring against him, even from the Atletico days. As for Mateo, a very good alternative for Modric is gone (at least for this season), Ceballos and Isco are much more attacking, while i can't see Llorente or any other of their youngsters being a dependable squad player, at least not in the same extent as Kovacic.

How was that his decision? Wasn't it Real Madrid's decision to loan him to Chelsea? Could he have said no to Real Madrid and said "No, I want to stay here" or "No, I want to go to a different team"??

Kovacic just posted a farewell message to Real: "After three years filled with trophies I have decided to move on. Eventhough are paths now separate I want to say big thank you to Real Madrid family and all the fans for an amazing part of my life I will never forget"

He doesn't seem to realize that it's only a 1 year loan or maybe he doesn't want to go back to Real.

He probably made his mind up, that he wont be coming back, even if he return from loan next season, he will be looking to get a permanent deal away from here.
