Mats Hummels

The reality is that some players now look at the clubs' records a bit, but also especially at their contract.

Marquinhos, for example. he had the choice. Marquinhos said it again yesterday, he had the choice.

He chose PSG while he could have gone to Barcelona.

I won't search any other reason than money.

That's just an example, and I don't mean most players would have done the same choice, but it's not exactly like it was before where you could lure every players just based on prestige.

What i see is that more and more players look especially one thing: the salary they can get.

Now people can like it or not, but that's how it is.

And il never understand those players, at Barca you will still be making enough money that you, your family your kids families, and even your grandkids families will be set for life. But you will also be able to play alongside the best players in the world at a club that has been breaking records for the past number of years.

Money, power, among other things that are part of History.

It's been centuries that humans showed that many of them always want more and more.

So some players go where they can get the biggest money pile.

It's not a new thing, really. And not exclusive to football.

Since we can’t sign TS we should go with all guns blazing and try to land this beast he is the only one around that is worth playing for us IMO

I personally think that like many german players, he might prefer to stay in the german league.

That reminds me a coverage/interview around german players from the german league, and how... how can i put that... i don't know if patriotism is the right word because they also LIKE money but, many of them were so focused on the german league and the ambitious/grand Germany that it looked special from a french view.

In France, french players are not attached at all to their league, or even to their country.

Actually, many french just are not patriotic at all.

No, Hummels did not suggest that if he had to move he'd prefer some other club than Barca. It was more like an about-face, to show his committment to BVB at this time.

Part of his interview he also played down his bad blood with Bayern, he said he was rooting for Bayern even shortly after he moved to BVB. It gave me the feeling that he didn't want burn all his bridges with Bayern.

2 Pique's against Ronaldo, Bale and Suarez? Nah..

Subotic and Hummels are both slow but it worked fine for BVB against Madrid last season and we have the speed in the flanks especially Alba

Speed is not every thing for CBs just look at Luiz he has the pace but he is clumsy with so many errors in his game that they had to
move him to DM…one of the best things that happened to Chelsea when they won the CL is his injury and not playing in the crucial
games the same thing goes for Pepe and Ramos they are fast but make to many clumsy errors

It’s rare to fined a CB like TS with pace and can hold his ground IMO we didn’t sign him from Milan last year cuz of his injuries and we had
hope for Puyol but I think they know they can’t rely on him any more

Now Hummels is slow but he makes up for it with good positioning that gives him a lead start like Pique used to do when he was at his
best 2 years ago against Ronaldo he couldn't go past him

Hummels have a lot of qualities that makes him perfect for our team that doesn’t mean he doesn’t have any flows in his game...at times
he lacks concentration and make some silly mistakes but who doesn’t

We lost 7-0 to Bayern not because we lacked pace in the back line but because we lacked a CB that could hold his ground and defend
Pique was the only one trying to cover the back line by himself if it wasn’t for him we might of lost by double digits

This is why I think if we can’t get TS then it’s Hummels

PS if Madrid adds Bale and Suarez that means Dive Maria, Ozil or Benzema are out of the picture not a much difference about the same quality IMO

Nowhere near as bad as the guy we have in our team currently even on his bad days, what is a bit of concern for me regarding Hummels and Subotic and Dortmunds team in general is they seem over last years game and today's game to be second best in the aerial battles, was not the case in the previous two seasons

The facts are facts, hes better than Pique.Everybody says he can't fit with Pique but thats not the point.Pique has been bad for 2 seasons in a row and i can't see him trying his best without competition but even if we bring competition its not for certain that he will perform good again.I wouldn't mind if we got Hummels to bench or sell Pique.

As i said above he is better player than him.Stronger and better in aerial battles that have big problems there and ofcourse an excellent passer to bring the ball forward.Hummels with another CB like Mangala for example that is strong physicall pretty fast would work fine for me.

How do you know he could have gone to Barça? Barça would have never payed 35 million to Roma and I'm fairly sure Roma chose the highest-bidding team.

Back to topic, Hummels is a great defender but like Piqué, very inconsistent and bad when he's not fully focused. The only area where he's clearly better than Piqué is in the air, but other than that, they're pretty similar.

I won't believe the first part but I damn sure do the latter one :p

As long as Pique is here we can't afford to have Hummels... Especially now that Bartra is developing himself to be a fine young lad and would hopefully realize his potential
