I understand why some of you do not want Thiago Silva( his age and price), but I cannot be the only one that sees that Hummels is not suited at all to our playing style. He is excellent for Dortmund as they are not playing a particularly high defense line, but Hummels is as slow and un-agile as Pique. Sure he is better in the air, but he won't solve our problems against fast defenders. In my opinion, Thiago Silva is by far the better player and match to our system, but he is a really expensive defender for his age. Once again it is apparent the incompetency of our scouting team. These two players cannot be the only available options in the market

Could you not look at it as signing Silva now being the equivalent of signing Puyol in 2007 or Xavi in 2009? Definitely worth a risk.

True, at 29 he still has 3 solid years ahead of him before. His age isn't an issue for me. His wages and the fact that he would cost a LOT of money (at least what PSG paid for him) and his injury problem is what scares me. Having him on the books just to join Puyol on the treatment table isn't really a good option. These past 8 years he's played an average of 23,5 games a season. That's simply not good enough for a club like Barcelona who need the core team to play 40+ games a season. By the way this is without counting his pre 2006 form where he was injured for seasons on end. Since he started pro football with RS Futebol in 2003 he's played an average of 19,2 games a season. That's very low. Even this season with PSG he's only played 20 games and their season is 2 matches away from being over.

Anyone with that kind of injury record is not worth it. We have a small squad and he is expected to play ALOT of games. Whats the use if he misses 10-15 games a season. I would even take someone like Luiz or Cahill over him. Hell Garay or Nastacic of City would be better.

Noone mentioned Silva being a Barca fan? His age shouldn't be a problem, could have 4-5 good seasons in him.
His injury problems though... And he's PSG captain and Sheiks really don't need to sell.
I am aware of the tax issue but it still looks like a long shot.

Honestly ,with him moving to PSG last summer ,I see him a guy who would still go for the highest bidder ,no shame about that but that won't give us advantage trying to sign him once teams like Man City ,Bayern ,may be Real madrid are aware of that

Hummels was good at Madrid in the second leg but Dortmund defended very deeply, with no spaces in the back of the defense. This situation will not happen frequently at Barca.
I think he is even slower than Piqué , and with Busquets's incredible slowness, our new GK will be often in 1 vs 1 situation with the opposite strikers, I would prefer a faster defender like Thiago Silva.
