Matthijs de Ligt

We need to tie him down and have him put pen to paper soon. Today Ajax has their final game of the season and in about two weeks he will join up with his Dutch NT teammates. The next 10 days or so are crucial for us.

Jup that's what they said, he want his future be decided before the interlands and barça could announce him after the copa final. We will see.

I think De Ligt is an intelligent person. Ergo, he will soon be blaugrana.

If he’s that intelligent why on earth would he sign for a team managed by a complete imbecile ?

Apparently ManU had the Sancho deal 99% done until OGS lost control of the players (the disastrous results started the day after he was given the full time job )

Who to believe.

The guy who actually broke the De Jong to Barca news and generally did a good job in his reporting vs MD a paper who thought Frenkie De Jong's dad was named Vader De Jong.

If MD was not lying and I think they weren't, that De Ligt actually said something to the effect of "we will see where I am at the end of the summer." today after Ajax captured the Dutch league title, then it is spelling trouble for us, indicating that he truly might not have made up his mind as to where he wants to go yet. Otherwise, he wouldn't have said that.

We will see which one of MD and Oriol Domènech is right.

a) De Jong

b) We have always had good relations with Ajax and the Dutch in general.

c) Messi

d) We are the best club in the world (even after some very bad results in the CL, honestly, which club is more prestigious than Barca????)

e) Umtiti is perma-injured and will soon be out. Pique is old. Leglet not nearly as good as De Ligt. He is guaranteed a starting spot from the day he arrives.

f) Helping Barca re-conquer Europe.

g) EV will probably be gone soon.

If De ligt joins he will be here for many years.

He could very well be a future captain.

Valgreen won't be here for long.

Real Madrid in terms of history and trophies won (8 more CLs than us and about what, 11 more league titles than us?).

Not guaranteed at all. There is still some gas left in Pique, Umtiti might not be sold after all and Lenglet has been very good for us. De Ligt will have to fight for a starting spot.

g) EV will probably be gone soon.

Valverde will be here for at least one more season.

I think Griezmann and De Ligt are both signed for sure. MD is only trying to make Bartomeu a hero like they did with the De Jong's saga.

Are we getting him because we actually need him or because it's an opportunity?

If he hadn't existed I doubt we'd be looking for any CB's. That's why he needs to understand he can't be guaranteed playing time at Barca.

Sport says:

SPORT have learned that the player's intention is, once the Dutch season ends (Ajax have their final game on Wednesday and will win the league bar a miracle), to enjoy 10 days off before he has to join up with the Dutch national team on May 24. Holland are preparing for th UEFA Nations League Final Four. They have England in the semifinal. Before that, De Ligt wants his future tied down. He's waiting for Barça's final push.

I would say that we need him. Pique turned WC this season, but has been more inconsistent recent years, and could be the type of person who wouldn't continue into mid 30s if injures start knocking on his door. Lenglet has been great this season, but no guarantees going forward, so 1 season with 4 great CBs wouldn't hurt us. Pique could need a big kick in the ass sometimes, and De Ligt could get a lot of chances to prove himself already in his first season.

he's trying to get a better contract than what Barca offer.
Barca and Ajax have everything agreed on, but de ligt wants barca to give him a better offer.
Can't blame him since there are so many other teams afte rhim who would offer him the wages he is asking for
Nothing is written on stone, so don't be surprised if just like Griezmann last year we end up not signing him

de Ligt is the type of personality that we currently lack in our defence, he is a true born leader and shows actions instead of crying.
I still remember the video Puyol is putting Pique on his place at the Bernabeu when Pique found a lighter on the pitch.

This kind of spirit we are truly missing in all the players like Pique, Busquets, Messi, Suarez & Rakitic who should be our leaders.
Am convinced with Puyol on the pitch last week, we would not have conceived at least 2 of the 4 goals.
He would keep his head up high, and fighting spirit up, which we are lacking for the last 5 years (except 2015).

I believe de Ligt can be the true successor of Puyol in terms of leadership, that's the reason we need him.

Hard to know what is really happening behind the scenes but there is the impression now that Barcelona intend to call Raiola's bluff. We'll see who blinks first
