I think De Ligt could genuinely be considering his options, particularly if he has received better offers from other clubs. Unlike De Jong who is a Barca fan and has wanted to join for a while, De Ligt is not, so playing time and money will matter more to him when weighing which club to join than they were to De Jong.
If de Ligt somehow becomes the new Puyol it'll take years. You can't come in as a 19 year old in a WC club and become a leader everyone looks up to.
What we might lack today is not going to be fixed by signing de Ligt.
It took a while even for ter Stegen to get the respect he deserves. Not only is a great personality needed, but also great performances on the pitch.

A random thought: when Rabiot has asked for similar things, everyone here talked bad about him and his cancerous mother.
And: we don't want him anywhere near our club.
When De Light is doing the same, replies are: let's hope that we will sign him in the end.
Btw. this guy is asking higher wages than Rabiot and De Jong.
Plus, Rabiot was coming for free.
De Ligt asked for a promised playing time.
When Rabiot did the same, he was a spoiled brat.

He shouldn't be paid more than FDJ by any mean, if he has the nerves to ask that then move on. He is a luxury signing anyway

Sure the double standard and hypocrisy exist, because most people here value De Ligt but not Rabiot. Also because Rabiot has a bad track record, De Ligt does not.
Like I said De Ligt will be a fool if he think he deserves to be paid more than De Jong and if we miss out on him because he chooses more money, there is nothing we can do and I am not too upset about it.

I think our agreed transfer fee with Ajax is around 80m, perhaps we should start approaching Leipzig over Konate and Upamecano soon.

Won't be surprised if he chooses Liverpool over us.
klopp has a good project there right now, they are easily one of the best clubs in the world atm.
If they can get Deligt and other players they could be favourites for both EPL and CL next season.
Meanwhile we're stuck in reverse with Valgreen.

The clubs that are interested in him, and have reportedly given better offers was one of Bayern, PSG or Juventus, according to both MD and Sport. However, Van Der Sar did mention England being one of the potential destinations for De Ligt so it could very well be Liverpool. Also you can never rule out City, with their money and Guardiola allure.
