He is very young. I assume when he builds up stronger leg muscles he will be quicker/faster. He is very heavily built.

He looks really heavy tho. Isn't that going to be worse with age? But hopefully he can slim a bit down to gain some speed and flexibility.
I believe he would fit better in PL or Serie A - would still be a shame to miss out on a talent like him. And as another user said, the de jong-de ligt-ajax connection and quality, with de jong being a big fan, would be nice for our identity, which has been lacking a bit.

For me, they were at the same level, de Ligt was slightly better.
A must buy player for sure. We should close the deal now before the bidding war starts in the summer. Perez will spend big this summer for sure!

Weird thing is we dont really need him that much when we have Pique, Lenglet, Umtiti and Tobido.
At the same time its a must have player who will be great for a decade.

Pique is done soon. We don't know how good Tobido is, so we are left with Umtiti who's career is in jeopardy because the knee problem and Lenglet. Not exactly good situation.
We need De Ligt
Yeah, that is a dilemma. This guy is such a talent, that i wouldn t mind selling Umtiti, who has knee issues, in order to open slot for DL.
He was always on the heavy side. That's just the way his body is built

They called him dikkie ( Funny slang for the word fatty) in the Youth Academy.
When he debuted for Ajax (2 years ago). He had a personal trainer to work on this.
But for a big dude i think he's quite fast. A move to a top competition shouldn't be a problem for him. It will only will make him better.

Weird how perception work. I have never found him big. Maybe because he is smaller than me in height and weight.
Was good yesterday even if the team performance was better than individual player imo.
Ajax had a faculty to always have players in the perfect position at the perfect time. Their attacks were so easy because you had several available players in the perfect space.
