Alright.

I agree it's a weakness of his, but it's minor. Could compare him to Busquets. Would I want him to have better pace? Of course, but the perfect player doesn't exist.
de Ligt together with Umtiti/Lenglet is a great combination in my book.

Most of those you mentioned are just above average fast or not good enough overall.
And as I said that doesn't make a difference for a CB, you're either VERY fast or you'll have to compensate for your lack of pace with good positioning.

I don't think we'll get much further.
In conclusion: IDGAF how slow a CB is if he's great at every other aspect, people shouldn't be concerned about pace, this isn't FIFA.

Pace doesn’t seem to bother all the Raki supporters

ment like an counter-argument that he isnt heavy?

But i think if he goes to Barca our fitness coaches should slim him down, to make him more flexible, mobile and quicker. Unlike players like Dembele, he is probably willing to change his habits to make him best suited for barca.
It was a reference to the suggestions he wasn’t that tall ..

Atletico reportedly is interested in getting him, since they will be losing potentially both Godin and Lucas Hernandez.

If Bayern activates Lucas Hernandez's buyout they will have 90m of cash on hand.

I don't see why he would want to play for Atletico. It's everything vs Ajax and Barcelona philosophy.

So you agree with me if you agree with my initial comment? Why this long debate then mate?

Of course there are no perfect CB's. Already wrote that. De Ligt remains my favorite all things considered. Yes, de Ligt partnered with any of (a fit) Umtiti or Lenglet would be great. Or Piqué.

Disagree about them not being fast. To be honest with you both of us could mention 10 times the CB's if the criteria was just to mention quicker ones than MDL as pace is obviously not his biggest strength.

It does actually as pace cannot ever be a negative attribute.

No we won't get much further as we actually seem to be in agreement overall. You just created a discussion based on statements that I did not make based on me stating 2 weaknesses of MDL as I see it. Which is fair enough as we had an somewhat interesting and relevant discussion so I don't mind it.

I don't play FIFA. Have not since 15 years. Pro Evolution was my thing initially but stopped playing that ages ago. Not a gamer at all, lol.

VVD helps Liverpool's defense so much by being as fast and quick as any striker, he is a phenom athlete and let's their midfield and fullbacks play so much more aggressively. And as he has a better football brain and leadership attributes than Varane, he makes for an even more impact player. Have to go to I think you have to get the younger version of Pique, Ramos, Kompany and Godin (all very skills and quick in bursts, particurly relative to their size) to get that level of impact from a CB.

I'll have to watch him more, but I don't think De Ligt looks quick, maybe the heavy look another said. Quickness (initial burst) is more important than speed. But man is De Ligt young.

Further I think speed in the backline is more important than in deep lying playmakers or controlling midfielders or hybrids BTW, since someone brought it up.

I'm interested in getting Blake lively as well.....

De Ligt is not going to that pathetic bus parking club.

If they want to ascend in the next tier of teams, they need this kind of big name signings tbf. They need to make a statement and they'll lose both Godin and Lucas Hernandez in the summer. They are the team in need of a CB the most and they will have money from Bayern.

Don't know if De Ligt will want to join them though. Maybe if they pay through the nose for him plus a bigger wage than us they could turn his head.
