Today it’s the agent of De Ligt’s who’s causing the hassle trying to get him to Juve , ManU or Bayern ... hopefully he’s just trying to get the money up

Pique is our best defender currently and lately plays as one of the best defenders in the world.
In which universe an option exists that De Ligt will be an automatic starter over Pique in the next season?

If there are doubts i think its about his profile rather than lack of money. His lack of speed, and 1 vs 1, and also how his profile would match up with a player like lenglets are issues that have been expressed before. I still think he is good enought to be a starter here tho.

Yeah, it's unfortunate. There's no way Pique is seeing the bench next season after marshaling the defense like he has been this season.
And Lenglet is reliable and apparently a great partner for Pique. De Ligt is quality but he wouldn't be an immediate starter.

This isn't really a "do we need this player right now" buy it's a "this player is just way too good to miss out on" kind of deal.
If we don't sign De Ligt he won't be playing here for years to come, maybe never. Thats the decision we have to make. He will cost 70M now, just imagine what it would cost to get him from Juventus, Manchester or Bayern in 2 years if he does well...150? 200?
So it's not just a decision for next season, it's about if we think this player belongs here anytime in the near future or not. Because "barca fan" or not he won't wait for us, if we don't want him some other big club will snatch him.
Our defense looks solid but i hope we don't miss out on him. Would be even worse if was because of that clown Griezmann. Sell Umtiti, Malcom, Coutinho or whoever seems expendable to sign him if we really think that's the right move but please don't miss out on De Ligt.

Agreed... if it’s 70/80m like rumoured it’s a no brainer, whether our defence is solid or not.

I know Pique is magisterial right now but he won't be the same every season from now on.
Umtiti probably has his knees fucked up by now
Lenglet was amazing this season but i still see him as a bench option for the future.
It's a no brainer.
