Very funny thread

Months ago everyone was bashing him, saying he won't make it because of his size. BBZ comment "it's be better to have Keira Knightley in the tream than having Puig" was the highlight of that period.

Just some weeks back, almost everyone meserised by him. He was our best player and won few MOTM including the match against one of the most physical team in Europe. BBZ totally dispapeard from this thread.

Now that he got zero playing time in UCL. BBZ is back in this thread bashing him, out of sudden the same people who were raving about him, start to doubt him again. "He is still not tested", "He is good, but has physical limitation", "He can be just another squad player", "He is not that special"

I always admired BBZ for his ability to easily influence people even if many here claim they are against his footballing philosophy.

people said it will be difficult for him because of his size but since then Puig proved that we were wrong. Nobody knows how he will play in the future but in the last matches when he played he was always exceptional.

His agility and speed are not anything special in modern football. Think we've been so accustomed to the likes of Raki, Busi, Vidal, Gomes etc. over the years that when we see a player move normally (Puig) we think they possess some extraordinary traits.

They are clearly special as he is one of the more nimble players among all players on the pitch when playing, including opposition. Puig has been our MOTM in most of the summer games, playing well when even Messi didn't. But yes, Puig's workrate should be the norm for our midfield, it is the new meta.

Spot on. BBZ never posts here when Puig plays. He waits until he is benched to come back with his usual blabbering that we've heard one hundred times before.

Puig is class. You always see the fire in his eyes when he plays. He could be the best La Masia talent since Iniesta.
It's not just about fire in the eyes, which is great, of course. It's about his ability. He looked perfectly comfortable playing among the big boys and didn't gave an inch away. He has very high football IQ, thing that BBZ often use against players he dislikes, and more often it has grounds. Puig's iq is certainly way above average. Rarely have i seen him make stupid decisions. His vision of field, of spaces between players and positioning is something that you can't learn. His technical ability to execute difficult passes based on the former is also great. He constantly finds the best solution and execute it well. he haven't yet scored goals for first team, but has come close. Think his shooting ability is above Iniesta's. Really powerful and precise most of the time, just haven't got lucky yet with the few minutes he played.
Even in physical struggles, he hasn't failed that much, knows how to use his body (dat IQ again) and has quick feet and mind to avoid them all together.

Basically it's now all about his physique. Fact that his brain is currently miles above not just all players of Barca, sans Messi, but la liga, makes him pretty good contender to young Iniesta. Btw, i absolutely hate young Iniesta, because he constantly dibbled too much and failed at it. One thing that nostalgic dudes like BBZ doesn't remember.

Young Iniesta was somewhat frustrating, true.

Puig has IQ, that is out of question.
He has creativity.
And motivation and a spark.

Questions are: physique, defending, scoring and whether he will be a choir boy like too many of our guys.

We'll see that in the next season.

A question, why do you support Barcelona?

He has defended better than some of our veterans not just by relentlessly pressing and being a nuisance, but also just winning the balls from much larger players.
Scoring, as you know, is not be all for a mid. Iniesta was abysmal scorer despite some of his iconic goals. Puig, despite his scrawny bones, seems to have way more powerful punch in his boot and seems to be always quite precise. Also he knows when to run into box to score unlikely goal. Something that Iniesta never learned, but Xavi was good at. He really seems quite complete player, who needs to hone his skills on high level. Even if he remains midget all his career, he would still bring more contribution than mediocre 'physical' players that you aim for as non of the later have any brains to create. Puig has that creative spark and will to overraid the static handball siege shit with sharp vertical, between the lines passing.

I'm not saying he will be a Barca legend, just that he and players like him (DeJong) should be the ones that need to be endorsed and supported the most. We will never win CL with a squad of oldschool juggernauts like Juventus (even Juventus itself doesn't anymore lol).

Well, actually not getting on a hype train every time one of our youngsters has a great run of games is totally justified after years of failed La Masia products.

That being said, Puig is no doubt, one of the best prospects we have had for a long time.
