Lucho had clear ideas of how to manage the team.
His work is really underrated because of MSN, which is shame considering we are seeing now how much difficult it is to get the best of the stars you buy.
People foe example give Klopp too much credit for Salah development, but don't give Lucho anything for how much he helped Neymar

That's because while salah is an excellent player, the natural talent gap between him & neymar is as wide as the ocean.

Neymar was always going to become a great player, salah had to develop into one.

We'll never know the truth about this. But tbh, Lucho has been pretty mediocre except Barca. He needs to show he is a top manager somewhere else as well. Don't see top teams being interested in him at all.

At his age, he shouldn't be coaching National Teams.

And MSN is not just any trio of talented players. It's a trio of 3 of the best 5 players in the world. Completely unseen at the same team. We have little to no precedent of an attack like that in Europe, with 3 world-beaters at their peak forming the top line of the same club. If anything, we underachieved with Lucho in 2016 and 2017 looking at the squad, most of the signings under him were crap, and the rumor was he requested or sanctioned some of those.

I like Lucho but we shouldnt overrate him as he had the best trio in the history of football at the front and Andres inesta in midfield. Im still angry that barca didnt win CL in 15/16, we were terrific in the first half of that season but because of lack of rotation we got tired in second half. In 16/17 he had no fault, our midfield was garbage.

He had an offer from Chelsea that he declined because they didn't want to accept his terms with transfers.

Yea, but you have to agree he needs to get back in the saddle and manage a top team. Otherwise, the success he achieved will forever be questioned by having been spoiled with an almost obscene amount of talent.

Virtually all top managers have either proven themselves at different teams or, if they chose to stay at the same club, affirmed themselves within more than one cycle of players.

I have not seen enough to make up my mind if Lucho was a key factor, or if he was blessed with a full form peak MSN winning the battles for him, of at least giving him a massive head start in every match.

 You could say the same about everything here. No player or manager cares or even knows about what some fans say about them on Barcaforum.

Oh, yes  and not only Barcaforum. It stems beyond our little community. What I wanted to say is.. that Lucho doesn't strike me as that kind of a guy. Unlike, say, CRonaldo. Get the gist..

I never get this way of thought.
Rijkaard was historical coach here, was argued to be in top 3 Barca coach of all time when he left. and he didn't have success after, and even his success before Barca was limited to good show with NT.
Does this take anything from what he achieved with us? I honestly don't think so.
Lucho was a key factor, sure he had great player but all great coaches had great players too when they won on big stage.

Midfield functions much better with him, because he passes and repositions himself to receive it again. Adds much more fluidity.

Needs to start a lot more now.
