Mavericky Puig

Not nearly as bad as is being said.

Shame it is cut off, but the pass at the 2:00 mark would have put the player furthest from shot through on goal.

Yeah with that video, although the clips was too often cut early, I realize that I too was a bit dramatic about his mistakes yesterday. I like his style and intuition, but I am really not full of patience for any players mistakes.
I think I am partly to blame for Puig being put under the looking glass on this web forum, but it seems he really is at other places too, I think it has a lot to do with Koemans strange handling of him last season, and mr. Art Vandelay above made a psychological analysis about it that I read before which I think makes sense...

Some of his mistakes were bad, but I think Nicos for example was as bad or worse. It is btw really striking to see the Linares players body language in that video, and compare to how it looked at the end of the game...

0:15 was nice
0:20 too
0:48 perhaps the first occasion where I saw his physique let him down, although most refs would give the fk there.
1:24 perfect tempo and decision making
1:28 a bit like 0:15, cool and correct
1:38 nice work by the entire midfield there
1:43 I think this one found him right? perfect timing in any way with the last pass there
1:57 yeah, don't think I spotted that run live, wonder if Puig did. This is his MO though, I love these passes even when they reach Nico as on 1:24 too.
2:40 another perfect decision and timing when running against the defence

He was shite and that is why he was taken off by Xavi at HT for Barca to turn game round.

Simple.

It is lovely watching Bobo try to find some embers from that performance to try and feed the denial.

Just shows how clueless he is on Puig.

Keep praising him. Fits perfectly.

Imagine the psyche of someone who thinks Puig is a top player.

Little scrote will be gone soon enough and can live his life as an ex Barca player and try to squeeze out the last drop of attention that brings.

It's Puig fans rendition that he had from bad to mediocre game, but hey the whole team was bad.

Truth is Puig played with the ball the most, he was Xavi's playmaker in this game and he failed at his task. Therefore his sub at HT was well deserved, prompting other poor performers like Jugtla and Nico to play with more confidence in the second half. In the end Barca faced a poor, but motivated opponent and Puig didn't deliver once again.

Can't imagine Xavi's reaction in the locker room at HT.

I didn't like it, weakened the team. He raises his hands that he is ready to receive the ball, they pass it to him. He immediately gives it back. Why demand the ball?

Nico had some poor touches but was much better than Puig in first half.

He at least looked like he knew the role he was being asked and set up best chance of half or Ilais other than maybe the Araujo header.

Puig looked absolutely lost, was sloppier on ball than Nico, was avoiding certain physical situations as always and was taking up some of the most bizarre positions can imagine.

Alba who was poor himself was clearly at a loss at what Puig was trying to achieve most of the time.

Against teams like Linares this nice quick passing in midfield is not enough when Barca are trying to take game to a poor opposition and it shows what Puig lacks.

That is the third game in a row v lower league teams in cup he has been taken off at half time as he looks lost when expected to be more positive on ball and take game to a poor side.

He wasnt Xavis playmaker last night though he was just being asked to play left of a three in midfield and connect with Busi/Alba to try and set patterns of play down that side. Nico showed him in second half what was expected playing there and that side of pitch was transformed.

Yeah he's clearly not good enough but I'm never going to be mad at the midfielder who does most and risks most to help out teammates under pressure.

He doesn't get the ball more than others because he raises his hand more than others. He gets it because he's the best passing option more often than others. You figure out why that is.

It's not like he's preventing others from making themselves available in a better position.

His playing style will piss off team mates and make things more difficult.

Running towards every player on ball is not 'helping'.

Can see why Puig has support he does when folk thinks that is impressive.

Puig last night makes team worse due to his style and moronic decisions/positioning and lack of ability on the ball.

you make 5 posts everytime he misplaces a pass mate, I wasn't exactly curious as to where you'd land on the issue.

You think Puig is good mate and speak nonsense about how he 'helps' team mates.

No one is curious where you land on issue.

Dont speak such garbage if dont expect response or block me.

Simple.
