Memphis Depay

In the league at least I don't think he's looked like the star we were promised. He's playing at an Oxlade-Chamberlain level at best. Probably Overshadowed by Redmond even.

Really beginning to wonder whether I was actually horribly wrong in my fury that Bayern didn't get him and that no-name Brazilian winger from the Uktrainian league instead... :p Given what I've seen from Depay so far this season and how most of you seem to rate him atm, it seems Bayern's scouts (probably Reschke to be more specific) know a great deal more about football players and their potential than I do. ;)

Well Douglas Costa is 25 and Memphis is 21. He's shown glimpses of quality, enough to get excited about. This is an adaptation season for him and I don't think that we'll start to see the best of him until from next year onwards. He needs competition for his place and shouldn't be relied on as an automatic starter, I'd have no issue if Young started more games on the left.

I think the potential is there, he's a great striker of the ball, he's just able to find space or impose himself. That could be as much to do with LvG's rigid attacking system as anything else though I suppose.

Put Herrera in Rooney's place and I think United would be a lot more solid in posession. Rooney has been crap almost all season now. Without one player to fuck up every decent attack, Memphis, too, will be better.

Or even put Memphis centrally, so that he has more room to express himself, and so that he doesn't have to track back as much. Then, you can use a proper workhorse (Young) on the left, increasing the defensive solidity in Shaw's absence. Memphis-Martial could be a sick, mobile duo up front, moreso than Rooney-Memphis or Rooney-Martial would be at the moment.

Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal has warned Memphis Depay he risks following in the footsteps of Angel Di Maria and Radamel Falcao if he does not start buying into his philosophy...

"Ryan has already given advice to him but the player is responsible for his own deeds," Van Gaal told reporters. "You have to give respect to your team philosophy.

"We have seen that some players cannot adapt to the team philosophy. You cannot know in advance before you buy them. You have to wait and see. That happened with Angel Di Maria and Falcao."

I'd assume Bayern and PSG wouldn't be sad at losing Memphis Depay when they got Costa and Di Maria....

True, though I doubt either club would be threatening to ship him out because he struggled 10 games and two months into his transition.

LVG is slowly building their team tbh ,I think he is doing quite good job there .can see them winning the league title next season .though if Pep joined City they would continue to be favorites
As for Depay ,he has no one to blame here
Many Manu fans were disappointed by him too.he is showing some few early signs of being a flop tbh

Is anyone expecting Depay to dominate after he has been in Manchester for two months? The kid is 20 years old and has just changed clubs. People should give him time.
And it is not like he is struggling every game.

Not dominate, but him struggling to beat his man for example gotta be disappointing, don't you think?
