I don't want to pick up a fight here....but to all those who voted Ozil or other..........what kind of crack are you on?

and the crack that he's a great great attacking mid fielder, a lot more versatile than Cesc Fabregas, could rotate a lot with Iniesta( who is injury prone ) and would cost shit-loads less than what Cesc Fabregas would!?

talk about audacity when more members voted for Ozil and you question their mental stability!?!

Honestly, I can't see Cesc starting unless Iniesta sits out injured again (which he probably will, but still). I would love to have him, but I don't know how we're going to play him alongside Xavi and Iniesta because we're certainly not putting Cesc as a DM, and I don't see Iniesta playing on the wing often as we saw with Spain.

Oezil will probably be able to adjust to the "Messi role" better than Cesc or Iniesta, but I say we get a DM first....

The crack that says no matter what we want, we aint gonna get Cesc this season

That is a different matter....

Be honest Estel...how many times have you seen Ozil play? Do you follow Werder week in week out in the Bundesliga?

*Now for practical(economic) reasons it may be more prudent to sign Ozil...but I have my doubts:

a)Is he really THAT versatile as you say he is?

b)Is he good enough for our starting XI, especially considering that supposedly world-class Ibra is obviously not good enough...and since Hleb(who looked more than decent at Arsenal) was a colossal flop.

c)Yes he will come in cheaper than Cesc, but he won't be cheap...the fact that he had a good WC, massively inflates his real value...

I been following ever since this article appeared...
http://www.imscouting.com/global-news-article/-the-new-diego-/3878/
and more and more ever since he declared his love for our club(to the proper belief it's this summer but he did it previously as well)

yeah not week in week out, but enough to be able to judge him not just through his youtube videos!! I saw many cules wanting Barca to sign this guy, but I was not totally convinced if he could cut it at highest level... but after the WC I have no doubts remaining...

a) He mostly played LW when Diego was still at Werder, occasionally right too... his first breakthrough season was when Diego was still there

b) He isn't yet... but he would be in not so distant future!! And why would you want Zlatan(a striker) to be replaced by Fabregas(a mid fielder) anyway!?

c) For the money Cesc is going to cost us, we can buy Ozil, a back up DM and a backup CB as well!!

And most importantly, I always believed Iniesta is the rightful successor of Xavi... people believe he's more attack minded but Fabregas ain't got the level of distribution that Iniesta has, he ain't got those dribbling skills and he cannot retain possession as much as Iniesta can!! So when we already have the engine ready why go search for another!? All we gotta do is find an attacking mid fielder who can fucking provide a goal threat which Ozil is and again costs a lot less than Cesc does!!

Maybe you are correct in everything you say...but my worry regarding Ozil is the following:he may look pretty good at Werder and Germany NT,but I am not sure he can cut it as a star at Barca, even though his long range shooting is something we badly lack,my worry is that we may end up with a player that will set us back 30m(maybe more) but who cannot really make a difference at Barca....while Cesc(even though he is gonna cost twice as much) is surely gonna fit in perfectly....and be a world-beater(I admire Cesc even more than Gooners do,I admit)

My point is that we can buy a DM and a CB this summer without spending any crazy money(is there any chance of getting Ozil for less than 30m euros?) and break the bank next season in favour of the amazing Fab....

*Plus, our ability to move at the marketplace hugely depends upon us finding a buyer for Ibra....is there any other hope than Man City?

Wow its great to see that Mesut is leading the poll over Cesc. I must say that with every passing day I tilt a bit more towards Ozil. I think getting him would be fantastic. He would be a lot more cheaper than Cesc and might turn out to be as effective as him. He would bring a kind of Germanic directness to our game which would balance our style of play more. Though, a few days back I wanted Cesc over Mesut, I must say that I would actually like to see Ozil in Barca colors.

Özil's contract ends in 2011, isn't it? If that's true, he could be a bargain...

Thats why i think his signing is more realistic now. Because of what you said, we could maybe get Ozil relatively cheaply whereas Cesc will cost us our entire, remaining transfer budget

im wondering how some people can judge ozil.
i doubt that many of the people voted have watched him regularly besides the europa league, CL or WC.

but with cesc, we've seen him for years doing his stuff in CL and EPL and for the spain nt
