Except Kaka was clearly in a rapid decline, but people never want to admit it with those big name players..look at how people still love Torres FFS.

Essien is not the player he once was in 2005-8, why the attitude Gio?!?! He's lost that energy he used have when he bossed midfields. Injuries have took their toll on Essien. For a Lass replacement you can't go wrong, however if you expect anything better than what Lass provided you, you will be mistaken.

What Essien will give you that Lass cannot is experience and game intelligence though, which in the CL especially can prove fruitful.
