It all depends on what plan is.

If the plan is to keep even one of Rakitic and Vidal it is pathetic.

If Puig is promoted and Pjanic does replace Rakitic and another younger midfielder brought in to replace Vidal then things have got a lot better in terms of age in midfield.

Would have Busquets at 31 and Pjanic at 30 as oldest two.

Nor sure who is out there to bring in though. There is a real lack of talented players in a La Liga outwith top three these days.

Arthur was sold for 72m + 10m
Pjanic for 60m + 5m (official numbers)

It is rumoured that Pjanic will earn 7.5m while Arthur 5.5m

Maybe the board's idea is to have Matheus Fernandes to replace Vidal.

Based on what I've seen of his only one La Liga game, he seems to have the profile to do the role that Vidal is currently using.

Whether he's good enough remains to be seen.

To me it is idiotic that we haven't looked at Van de Beek despite him slotting very easily into a Vidal type of role already having an established connection with FDJ. Another player that could suit that role is Thomas Partey.

Our scouting department and management are just utterly devoid of creativity. It's like they pull these names out from scouting reports taken over 4 years ago. Explains why they wanted Rodrigo so badly as well as Pjanic now. Clearly we are way more primitive in our scouting than most other top clubs. Signings that make complete sense tend to not even show up on our radar.

I cannot see Rakitic leaving. He wants to go to SFC and they want him for free to give a decent long contract + being the captain. He will leave next year.
