Not a different profile though. Have not seen enough of him, but I would rather give Araujo the chance instead. We need someone like Monaco's Beno?t Badiashile, Zagadou or Konate alongside CL. I rate CL and I appreciate his professionalism, he is a good player.
I like Lenglet too. I think those players you've mentioned are more seemed as longterm replacements for Pique (but they probably couldn't play in pair with him) who will remain a starter until his contract expires in 2022 (I could see him retire after that).
Next year we could bring back Eric Garcia to groom him behind Pique (or who knows, maybe even Araujo could develop into his longterm replacement but I doubt) for one year before taking over but if we'll bring a new CB this summer (this mostly depends on if we'll manage to offload Umtiti which I don't really have high hopes for) it will be someone to compete with Lenglet rather than a Pique successor and Kounde is imo an interesting option we should consider here. Obviously depending on his and other potential targets prices.
There were reports we'll be looking for a left-sided CB (I hope we won't focus on left-footed ones because this would clearly limit our options). Kounde is right-footed but he has played as a LCB as well. He was also used as LB and RB for Sevilla. Not much but he did quite well there from what I've seen and this could be useful if we'll sell Semedo or Firpo.
I like versatility in young squad players because it gives them more chances to get playing time and if we could get Kounde for let's say Raki (his market value is around 15m but we want to offload him so he's not worth as much to us) and Todibo (20m, we could also include a buy-back) and let's say 15m in money so a total value for Kounde's transfer would be around 50m (they've bought him for 25m just a year ago and his clause is 70m IIRC) I would seriously consider that option. The problem is I don't think Sevilla would accept. Monchi will probably prefer to keep Kounde for another season especially with Diego Carlos possibly leaving to EPL or if he would sell he'd want 50-60m in money so he can buy 3-4 new players.
While they'll look for Banega's replacement I don't think Monchi is desperate for Raki's return (it's more Raki's preference to return to Sevilla if/when he leaves us than the other way) and he can find younger and cheaper midfielders. He was interested in Todibo in the past but he can also find similar talent level CBs and actually get players who want to sign for Sevilla which is very doubtful in Todibo's case.
I know my proposed swap is almost impossible to happen but Kounde is their only first team player I would consider if we'll want to include Raki in some kind of a swap deal with Sevilla. I like Ocampos and Joan Jordan as well but don't think they are good enough. And swapping Raki for one of their youth players who are a longshot to ever make it to our first team is far from a good deal as well.
Well, maybe we should just swap Raki for Monchi.
Or at least his list of cheap transfer targets for this summer and try to buy a few of those instead of spending 100m on Lautaro.
