its not an idiotic deal, just a less favourable one than we would have hoped. guess we were being naive that Valencia would be happy to beef him up for us to just come and take him. we will just have to buy him again, if he is worth it. can someone confirm how the sell-on clause would work if we were to buy him back?

Some people are so extreme.

Munir in a space of a few months has gone from the symbol of a poor Barcelona squad and a failing La Masia to the symbol to a youngster with huge potential the club is treating like shit and destroying La Masia.

Just any angle to constantly complain at times.

Munir has potential and deserved his chance. Paco is the better player who is quicker, better at holding up ball and more ready to step in to front line immediately.

Hopefully Munir can develop at Valencia and there is a chance to do so even if club is in a mess at moment. As many players have proved across past couple seasons.

Lol this "cattle" nonsense. Munir likely was involved in this choice. He had other team suitors. Barcelona sent him to a first division team with a rich history, on the same league, very close geographical to Barcelona, where he's going to make a lot of money and have a greater chance to improve as a footballer. Any allusions to "cattle treatment" are borderline idiotic.

Nevermind we do not have all the details of the deal and what we think we know is a loan deal with incentives for Valencia to actually want the player to play and develop.

He had other suitors, including Celta Vigo which was apparently done & dusted. We've read already that the Paco deal was contingent on Munir or Samper's involvement, the club opted to 'keep' Samper and sell on Munir

And yes, moving cantera kids to fund moves for other youth products is analogous to being treated as nothing more than a commodity, hence cattle.

The message it continues to send to those enrolling in La Masia is that unless you are Messi, Iniesta or Xavi then you will be developed to the point of selling. Because no, not every youth player will be world class but based on what we see today had Lucho been coaching Pedro & Busquets back in 2008, they'd be cattled off as well. Developing talent isn't farming it out for someone else to do it, this wasn't the Cruyff way either. We'd never benefit from Xavi, Iniesta, Valdes, Messi et al

Yes he absolutely deserves a chance to further develop, just for his own sake alone. However, the fact that we might not have any mechanism built in his deal to bring him back is bad because (1) from a selfish perspective if he turns out great it will be very hard for us to get him back since Valencia might not want to sell and even if they do we might face fierce competition and (2) this hurt Munir personally as he might see that he was used as a leverage to bring Alcacer, that he does not have the club's trust to even include a buy-back clause. Keep in mind he had wanted to stay with us and Valencia was not his preferred destination if he had to leave.

From Pep's tenure, only Busquets and Pedro were 1st team material, and only Busquets was really a talent. Pep gave chances to jeffren, tello, cuenca, and others, but where are they now? Lucho is turning Roberto into a excellent rb, Rafinha and Denis could maybe turn out well too. The thing is la masia isn't producing Messis, Iniestas or Xavis right now. Only way to have many cantera players is to give up fighthing for trophies.
