What are you talking dude?? It's the second biggest competition

The offical order of int. competitions in football:

1. WC/EURO
2. Nations League
3. Copa America

While we have to say the competitons which were pre-2019 had a higher value than after this period

It is friendly games replacement. It should be about rotations and trying new players.

It isn't above golden cup, never mind Copa

It depends, for some teams it's really important, they offer some tournament spaces through it and also moving up the rankings is important but only for smaller teams.

You're right for the bigger teams it's irrelevant as its not a valued competition and all of them will be preparing for Euros/WC.

Thing is DLF called up guys like Mingueza who if we had 2 friendlies would definitely have gotten minutes.

So you got a manager like Fuente and instead of building the lines, wants to build his legacy and get another NL triumph.

Also going on a tangent, Euro Cup winners should be rewarded with auto qualification for the WC. Atleast all the continental winners within that cycle.

But nope, instead they get an extra tournament out of it that no one cares about.

At the end of the day he does have a job as well, if we won't rest our players, there's no reason he should, it's courteous for NT managers to work with clubs but they don't have to and it falls on the club to safeguard players more than NT, they're only playing NT a few times a year and he will want his best players to be playing in competitive matches.

That should be the essence of it, but gradually you are having coaches taking it seriously which is counterintuitive.

As @Porque mentioned, players who are called up don't play now, and it is becoming more of a burden on top players. Again, because some of those would have normally played only portions of the minutes but they are playing more and more.

Another downside is it has taken friendlies between Europe and other continents, although I don't think Europeans care that much about it

I mostly agree with this but national team managers are also capable of assessing if they think a player is being overloaded. It does no good for the national team to play someone and possibly contribute to an injury. Not saying it's on them, it's 95% on the club but there is partial responsibility.

As previously hinted the concept of the tournament is to allow teams outside top 16 of Europe to have something to play for. It's not live or die for bigs like Spain, France, England, Germany, etc..
