Nelson Semedo

Nope. Clueless is claiming the likes of Gomes and Semedo should be in squad purely because they play for Barca.

Clueless is claiming pace is the main thing for a full back and that Semedo has been good for Barca.

Dude, the players that play regularly for Barcelona do that because they are very good. Better than the level of a Southampton player. Semedo a few weeks ago played in the clasico in 10 men Barcelona and did a wonderful job. To me, this is plain delusion based on the fact that you had an agenda against this player since the early days.

It's not even funny anymore. Every time there's a bit of shit news about Semedo here pops JamDav with his smearing comments. Every time he has a very good game, JamDav is missing or underselling the performance.

Go read some Portuguese press to see the shitstorm the final list of Santos caused.

No Semedo is a back up and not all the back up players who dont look good enough are better than players at smaller clubs.

Awful logic as I said.

What smearing comments would that be?

Not even funny is your desperation to make out he has been good and pace is most important factor in a full back.

You are completely deluded.

Surprised to see him not get picked but glad at the same time.

Hopefully it motivates him to work harder at club level knowing that even if he plays for Barca, his national position is not guaranteed,

Absolutely nothing wrong with this guy.
And yes, he does go forward but doesn't receive the return pass.

So many times I see him make a pass and make a run and the player just ignores him and switches play back to the middle. Better then Roberto by far.

Portugals loss by not taking him to the world cup.

Pretty decent game. Very good defending and finally giving some glimpses of what he can do with the ball. In combination with his pace he should go 1v1 on the wing so much more.

I saw several passes to him in the first half, went something like this

MATS to busquets to dembele to semedo to pique
or busqeuts --> semedo ---> dembele --> semedo ---> pique/busquets

see the problem here?
everyone goes forward except him with his passes, when the ball reaches him past the halfway line everyone practically starts running back knowing it doesn't go anywhere.

i think his forward pass to paco was one of his few all season long, genuinely surprised me.

hopefully he builds on this, was more impressed by real sociedads RB though.

The problem is that once the ball gets to him, there is no clear follow-up option available many times. So most of the time it's either a) cross, b) solo action, or c) recycle possession. This is what happens when more or less everybody stays put in his place, ball is moving in predictable patterns of play 90% of the time.

It is the same system that Roberto plays in and looks much better in possession and going forward.

To be honest it looks like rest of players dont expect anything of him in those areas now.

He was decent enough tonight and showed some nice touches mainly deep and mainly when got no time to think. When has time looks scared stiff.

I don't agree Roberto is very good offensively either. Is a bit better, but could also be because he's a senior in the squad and players trust him more, while Semedo was signed this season.

He has been in a different class to Semedo going forward this season. It is not even close.

It is not all about senior players deciding not to pass to Semedo for no reason.

Players earn the trust of team mates.
