Nelson Semedo

Same old, same old. Pretty solid defensively, weak in attack. Could've done better at their goal to at least deflect that cross. Decent make shit LB, but only that. Should start instead of Roberto on the right.

I think he did well, on the left but its clear that he wasn't comfortable playing there, and in the first half he have Navas in his pocket.

It seems like other players are actively ignoring his runs even he was clearly open. Suarez just passing straight to the opposition prior to semedo's goal just encapsulates that.

in this game particular we were actively avoiding to pass far wide
corners and crosses (especially given that alba and semedo both suck at crosses) would of been useless with the physical defense of girona.

Didn't see the match. Only looked up the stats. Happy for the goal. Starting to hope he turns things around, such a bad market for a RB. How did he look?

He's getting better and better at understanding the game and he makes the right decision lots of time now. He shows that if you give him a run he'll conquer that right flank. And that's exactly what's he's doing now that the competition with Roberto seems to be more fair. Even though at this point there shouldn't be competition anymore. Semedo is clearly the better RB.

Defensively he's always been superior by a hundred miles to Roberto. There was a myth about Roberto's supposed huge offensive contribution but it's just not true.
Lately Semedo started to show more offensively. And now you can't tell Roberto brings more in any aspect of the game.

Besides that, Semedo is far superior at beating pressure and building from the back, thanks to his superior athleticism and dribbling ability. He's far more useful than Roberto at making our defense progress in high pressure scenarios.

It's now clear: Semedo obviously should be the starter till the end of the season.

I always liked Semedo. Dunno why. I like his composure overall. Never complains and works hard. Unlikely player to create drama within the club, which should be valued in this day of age. Hope he continues to improve.

Hopefully Valverde has come to his senses and stopped sucking Bob's dick. The day Semedo starts in an important CL game over Bob will be the day i finally believe it.
