No. Basically allowing Benzema to receive the ball in a dangerous position. .
Benzema.
On the left wing with his back to the goal.
40 yards out.
Where he NEVER shoots from, and turn to shot or pass to Vinicius would have been the only options.
Dangerous position.
Yup. Lol.
Benzema is not in a dangerous position.
Dangerous is leaving the back line and leaving a gap for Real to break the lines.
Pique is positioned properly and having to deal with attacking run from Real.
Yea, just as I thought, you think Benzema is crap so somehow he needs to be allowed to create superiority and receive at will.
All of Pique, Umtiti, and Alba are blocking 1 player from Real who's not even a forward.

Watched it many times, and I stand by what I wrote in this situation.
Well you also wrote that Pique, Umtiti and Alba had one player to deal with when they had three so your assumptions are false.
Any defensively sound team in that situation the number one importance is keeping shape and not letting teams break the lines. That is not even debatable.

All of Pique, Umtiti, and Alba are blocking 1 player from Real who's not even a forward. Benzema is technically Pique's marker. So you're trying to tell me, that Benzema gets away from Pique's zone, enters Semedo's zone, but somehow nobody should even bother him and allow him to receive the ball at will. Yea... no.
Benzema enters Semedo's zone, is a threat there, Semedo blocks him, Pique needs to adjust. Then Umtiti a bit as well.
Something similar to this.
If Pique is there, Vinicius is handled before he enters the box.
Agree actually, CBs should drift over to the side of the pitch where the ball is. In this instance Pique and Umtiti are way too far away from the action.

Those who slam Benzema all the time should watch the goal a bit and understand why Benzema still plays for Madrid, and why he is a top player still. He makes a bad situation for Madrid a favorable one.

Yes, this is basically the transitions from situation to situation. Because we are so crap at moving it affects how quickly we readjust to specific game situations. Basically in this time old and slow Pique takes time to react to what Benzema does and correct his position.
No it isnt.
Semedo was in position a couple seconds before that and when Pique realised the mistke Semedo had made he had an attacking run to cover also.
Pique could not have been there unless was far to close to Semedo to begin with and if Pique is there who is covering the run into box that carvajal would have made?
