Nelson Semedo

It was always going to be hard to fill the hole Alves left since there's no one out there like him. But with Semedo, he brings creativity, pace and technical skill that we really need for a Fullback and it's great we got this deal done.

can't wait to see him play.

- Deco: "It’s difficult to know if Semedo's worth 30 million euros, because today in football the amounts are completely different."

- Deco: "30 million’s talked about like it’s three million -- but Semedo's a player of real quality."

Yeah. Had vacations until the 30th like Gomes and ter Stegen, but he's joining the USA Tour from next week. Will play against Juve, Man Utd and Real Madrid there so it will be exciting to see how he does.

He didn't have a great confederations cup but he will be playing in a team that can get the best out of his skill set. Which is why I'm excited to see how he fares in Preseason. I would love to see how a right side in a 4-2-3-1 that has Semedo at RB+Vidal on the RW.

I'm a little worried he's cutting his vacations short. I hope he doesn't get burnt out.

Gomes should follow his lead tbh. He's got to get into Valverde's good graces and after the season he had he's got a lot to prove. Only Mats really has a secure spot on the squad that he doesn't need to worry. Granted, Gomes is awful and him not taking an opportunity to gel with our new boss is probably a good thing.

I was thinking the same. He deserves a new chance this season but he should follow Semedo and Denis who both cut their holidays short so that they don't miss pre-season. It is important when you are new to a club that you don't miss anything and if there is a new coach it is important for the whole squad. Gomes already missed last years pre-season which hurt him a lot imo, so he shouldn't miss it this year. However, fuck those international competitions. They are a cancer for clubs with 60+games per season.

In his first year, I doubt he will be among the team leaders in minutes played. There will be an adjustment period, he might not become the regular starter for the first couple months.

And who's gonna be starting ahead of him? Lol
