Lol that's just ignorant. Every winger in the world cuts inside. Sterling today was running from leftside to midfield and passing to the right back, Hazard does it always. Sometimes you dribble someone while doing it, most of the time you dont. Its just a movement to free up the flank for the left back. Again, EVERY winger does this, MULTIPLE times a match. I'm talking about carrying the ball from left flank to midfield in a straight line and passing the ball from there to rakitic or sergi.
The problem is, BerkeleyBerney only started to analyse a winger's function in football when Neymar came in. He thinks only Neymar runs to the middle lol. Every guy who uses the right foot as a leftwinger does that.
I've no problem with him cutting in. I often play the same position. It's the limitations of what he does with the run- 90% of the time it's to hold the ball as long as he can (always LONGER if he turns it into a personal ego battle with his markers), look for a diagonal cross (not a simple square floor pass) into the middle 3 or 4 seconds into the run- if he doesn't get fouled. He rarely lays it off unless he's pushed back to close to the half line. There are so many more options available. As you said, it frees the flank, but it's useless if the run always ends with a foul or a cross to the middle. If he would simply drag two defenders and give the ball to Iniesta after pulling them for a second, they are out of position, you have the ball in the hands of an expert dribbler and passer who is positioned to see the open options, and a much more dangerous attack.
