Timing is an issue too. Pre-season for most teams have started and for certain teams there are only two weeks left until competitive games start again.

With 222m, you can get two great players, but obviously if he had not been a dickhead and told us before, we would have been in a better negotiating position.

There is rules against false sponsership, and they already have those type of deals but there is a limit of what they can go for. PSG can't go suddenly 200M wealthier. That would be even worse situation.
UEFA is controlling a huge industry with so many big sharks out there, they can't let things go out of the way. If someone tried to manipulate the rules they will have to intervene. Other big clubs will also have their say

Now they will have 222m in their hands and under immense pressure to sign absolute quality players, so now they have to pull the trigger on a couple of them. If Neymar had told them he was dead set on leaving earlier, the club could have tried signing those players without them knowing Barca would have 222m in their hands later.

When teams know you have 100m to spend and that you can only offer that much, the player can try to force their hand to sell, but now when they know we have 222m, they will try to squeeze 20-30-40-50m more.

The issue wont be identifying players as is it farily obvious who the top players could expect to go after.

A lot of the biggest transfers happen later in the summer.

Look at the problems he and his greedy father put us through and now ditching us for a club like psg at the worst timing after we couldnt sign verratti they did thought what? oh maybe psg will pay us as revenge on what barca did to psg.... I think the rumors from last year that this greedy bastard wanted too much and psg said no are true so he thought lets make a new contract and collect this year more money and lets try next year again with psg...

Non of us are lawyers or at least lawyers in football cases, but again many thought they can break the rules and found themselves sanctioned.
We have lawyers too when we were sanctioned. RM done the right thing and cleared everything up and they didn't get sanctioned by bending to UEFA rather than trying to bend the rules. As I said they are playing with fire and I think they will probably lose it if they took the risk.
And you have to remember he will get insane wage, it isn't just 222M

Timing ain't issue tbf, Plenty of great deals happened in August.
Cr7 to Manu, Rooney to Manu too just on top of my head.
That said this is football, it is normal that fans would hate it if one of the best players in the team decided -according to reports- to leave.
I didn't see anyone for example hoping him to get injured or something. comments seemed normal for a football board
