Neymar Jr. - v5

DonAK

President of FC Barcelona
How long until Pique retires? I want to know how long the current clown will still be in charge and other clowns will gather signatures to vote him off.

Won't be a President until 2027 at the earliest.

He has to wait two years after retiring to get involved in club politics. He'll definitely play for 4 more years too.

Good glad thats cleared up and can agree to disagree on it.

More like agree to not carrying on a debate because one part doesn't want to.

You haven't addressed any of the points I made about the shady additional contracts in our deal with Neymar Sr. that add up to more money not officially considered in his contract. You keep talking about his footballing contract as if that's all.

Yeah you are right I have read what you think, have said what I think and we disagree.

Fairly straightforward.

PSG might be of use. We can use Nasser to offload star players we need to move out for some reason. Just make it look like we don't want to sell and let the idiot pay the clause.

Neymar didn't betray anything. If he boycotted the training and had recourse to those antics then Yes. In this case, his release clause, agreed both by him and the club, was met. It was therefore his decision and he alone. If he stayed ,it means he did us a favour, if he went to PSG then he betrayed no one. It's as simple as that. The way i look at it is: he gave 100 % from day 1 to the friendly game yesterday. I can criticize his decision but i would never say he betrayed us. If you worked for a company and another one doubled and tripled even your salary, is it a betrayal if you moved ?
I do not see any problem with his behavior: he couldn't confirm or deny his move because everything was still in negotiations, there was nothing to tell. If he continues with Barca then kudos to him for choosing the career before money. The only thing did not sit well with me, was the fact that he signed a deal a year ago and got paid sign-in bonus. He should have made PSG to paid that back to Barca or at least some portion of that.

I loved Neymar here, he's been an excellent player for us and he's sure to be one of, if not the best player in the world, post Messi-Ronaldo...but how long until we are in that era? It could be another two or three seasons before we get to that point, and he'll be 27-28. The more I think about it, unless we can sign Coutinho like this next week, we should let him go.

It seems the only way Neymar will stay with us is if we get him his desired Brazilians and the only player that will improve the squad's needs is Coutinho. Even if Messi, Suarez and Pique talk him out of this move for this summer this will continue to be a drama each summer that isn't worth the drama in the dressing room every summer. This is still on the board; since Dani left, everyone knew Neymar wanted some more Brazilians and the board just never took it seriously. All of the money we offered to PSG for Verratti would make Liverpool consider the sale, and perhaps with Neymar knowing he made it clear to the board and wider public he wanted Coutinho, our Verratti pursuit made him feel like he won't be listened to here and why he should leave.

Bottom line: we either need to get serious about signing Coutinho ASAP or let Neymar go and we have a war chest. Again, I love Neymar as a player and person; I get why he's thinking about it and it's hard to deal with a father like his, I don't think he's doing this for the money and it's all about him being in a place he is the most comfortable at. But Neymar is never bigger than Barça: Dybala, Ousmane, J. Kluivert, there are players who fit our profile enough to where Neymar's departure could be nullified.

I hope he stays and this is why Coutinho really should have been more of our target than Verratti but dealing with this saga every summer is simply not worth it.

Oh, you disagree. Fine. I'd love to have some evidence that you've been carefully reading my arguments at last, but since all you've said is that you disagree, I'll have to take your word for it. Pity that at some point you didn't offer a counterargument to what I said and you kept repeating what I already addressed (right or wrong, but I did).

We should sign Coutinho and move Gomes, Arda and Rafinha. These 3 players would fund more than 60% of his transfer. Coutinho makes sense as a playmaker to replace Iniesta on a longer term. He can also take LW if Neymar leaves next summer. He makes sense. Keep Roberto/Rakitic/Alena for RCM, keep Iniesta/Coutinho for LCM, and Busi/Samper for DM. Sell everybody else in midfield.

No he didn't betray anyone, but you basically said he "honoured" the club. All he did was keeping Status Quo after causing a shitstorm by flirting with other clubs, possibly all just to create pressure for a pay rise.

This is as honourable as coming home to your wife, tell her how you were really close to banging that coworker chick of yours today but you didn't do it as you realized you are already actually in love with someone. And then you ask her to reward you with pancakes for that.

Samper and Alena should also be sold. Raktic can fetch 50M too.

Your wife doesn't pay you to be her husband. When that changes you can ask for pancakes. Don't confuse the professional relationship with emotional.
