Hard to live up to expectations when you are injured half season. In CL, he scored 5 goals and gave 2 assists in the group of death with Liverpool the future winner in it. And he was in terrible form in the first half, especially at Liverpool, because he was still out of form from his previous injury.

Neymar couldn't have better statistics with the little amount of games played. Almost 1 goal by game, 1 assist every 2 games and so many chances created.

People always talk about Mbappé scoring record and it is impressive. But people don't see the amount of times Neymar spoonfed Mbappé and Cavani goals and they missed.

Give up mate, the Romanian dunce is blinded by rage.

The Neymar we need more is the one who will run into space and finish the chances (2015 Neymar), not the one that assumes the playmaking role and creates (2016 and onwards), we already have Messi for that. I'm hoping if he comes, he will play the former role.

Same. If he comes I want him to play as a winger or wide forward, not a no. 10.

Most PSG fans would tell you that Neymar is the superior player to Mbappé. Similar if not better stats (goals and assists per played minute), the much better individualist, dribbler, creator etc. However Mbappé is almost 7 years younger, a World Cup winner and the most hyped and proven youngster. Being a local kid as well. So obviously Neymar is not going to steal the entire limelight as he might have hoped for when he moved back in 2017. Getting injured at the end of the season two seasons in a row is not helping either with this perception.

The problem is not so much Neymar the football player (ability wise) but more about the baggage that follows him, the disgraceful way that he left the club while creating a giant mess in the process with one of the consequences being the "genius" Coutinho purchase. His recent injuries, his arrival further strengthening the "club de amigos", Valverde being a passenger rather than a manager far, far from being the right guy to keep a check on the team and the club de amigos.
Basically incapable of leading a team with so many strong personalities and star names (many past their best date) in the adequate manner.
Him not being a youngster anymore is not helping either. I get it 27 is not old but players with the dedication and level like Messi and C. Ronaldo well into their 30's is a rare thing although increasing nowadays due to medical, nutritional etc. advancements. We all know the history of Brazilian mega stars once they approach their 30's.

There are more red flags and question marks than positives in the current context. Valverde at the helm, the board being the board, how the hell are we going to fit Messi, Neymar, Griezmann, Suárez and Dembélé into the same team while keeping everyone content?
Getting rid of Coutinho, possibly Rakitic as well or other deadwood is all fine but far from judging a possible and likely Neymar arrival as some kind of genius step let alone a great or good step IMO.

My hope, as written earlier, is just that Neymar will man himself up and catch the train before it departs. He should kiss the hand of Bartomeu and the pitch of Camp Nou if he manages to leave PSG. Apologize publicly for his disgraceful manner in which he left in, take a pay cut, the times of him leaving to Brazil whenever possible or to celebrate his sister birthday should be over as well. Throw some of the bad apples from his entourage away as well. Preferably settling down in life with some partner as well rather than partying whenever possible. In other words be a top professional like Messi, C. Ronaldo, Alves etc.

Focus on football 100% and use the past few years of fiasco as motivation to reach the highest heights be it collectively (trophy wise) or individually (Ballon d'Or) which are tied to each other anyway. Prove the world and doubters wrong.

One of the few positives that I can think of (in the wider picture all things considered) but it solely depends on Neymar and our and his luck. Do I think the above will happen? I don't know, maybe initially, but after that he will return to old habits most likely. In particular with this board around and this "manager".

He might get another serious injury as well and we will be even more disgraced as a club.

Bingo. How Dembélé should have been used if we had a manager that knew what he was doing. A certain horrible game in Rome comes to mind in particular. Criminal to not have used Dembélé more in this role whenever he was ready. Even if you see a light in him or not, everyone of us should agree that he has been misused tactically by Malmierda. A finished world class player in Griezmann might be next on the list, sadly.

2015 Neymar is peak Neymar in a Cristiano Ronaldo type of role, which made very good use of his speed and quick reactions. Basically a more technical Cristiano, with better dribbling and overall technique, but less killer instinct and much weaker heading game. Appearing inside as a forward starting from the wing. Very dangerous on the counter as well. It's the best version of Neymar to date. Doubt we'll be seeing that player again if we get him.

He is a ball hog these days.

Basically reporting what Marçal Lorente's tweet was saying and which I translated in post 4954.

That Barça is only willing to make a player exchange without money for Neymar while PSG is interested in Coutinho, Semedo and money. Still far away from an agreement as well.

So a more cautious approach from MD as usual whenever the deal is far from being a certainty.

Without having looked at Sport's front page for tomorrow, I expect it to be more "bombastic" and "certain" in Neymar coming.

That prediction did not fail.

Talk of Neymar getting closer to a move, there being optimism with the possible signing of Neymar after the meeting in Paris today, talk (claims) of Barça and PSG having agreed to a deal that includes both Coutinho AND Rakitic, that PSG values Neymar's value to be €250 million (laughable in my eyes) and that PSG wants players and money as part of the deal. There seems to be a consensus about the latter among all Spanish and French sources.

Two outstanding creative creators, creating for each other is the best scenario.

Salah and Van Dijk easily. Possibly Mane too. Sterling in the last 2 seasons. Cristiano Ronaldo easily.

Stupid to say Neymar is top 2 in the last 2 years when you have guys from Liverpool and City beasting it up setting up records and winning CLs, playing incredible football.

But... with the stat-tards everything is possible.

Or maybe the fact that he isn't in a top European league for the last 2 years means that is tough to compare him with anyone and the reason we are saying he is 2nd best is because of his potential and how he will be when he is Europe? Ronaldo? Are you joking? He has been heavily reliant on service for half a decade. We don't need players like cr7 and the current cr7 will find it really tough here where only messi is there to provide service and the whole team is toothless in attack

We need players like Neymar, hazard etc who can upgrade our team with creativity, and it's subjective but Neymar is one of the very best there is right now. Way ahead of your mane and sterling in individual quality.

No he won't. We are horrible in creation if not for messi, we need a creator, not a finisher.

I think we should move in the opposite direction. Forwards need to do more runs off the ball, not ask ball to feet in bad positions so they can do their 'creating' stuff. It's why we signed Griezmann.

Wait so they removed ALL Neymar related items from their official store in Paris and there is no mention of him on their Website?

We are really on the strong side in this negotiation. No wonder we are saying we're not going to offer any money in the deal!

I agree, but I'm worried whether he still has the pace for that role after all these injuries. We need this Neymar back (https://youtu.be/e4Pvld3s1R8) not a slower Neymar playing a free role mostly in the middle and taking tons of touches.

Absolutely on the money. Not a coincidence that Neymar scored 7 KO goals in 5 games against the likes of PSG, Bayern, and Juve in 14-15.

Which is the second biggest CL KO tear against top opposition after CR7's 2017...

His decision to ball hog and basically turn into a less effective Messi in the middle of 2015-2016 directly contributed to us fucking up a back to back treble and basically jumpstarted Madrid's 3 peat.

This dude is a trainwreck that keeps on giving.
