He ruined his career in the summer of 2017.

Technically injuries did, but I always say him joining PSG and Ligue 1 led to his bad injuries and being prone to more. La liga was definitely the only league tailored to his playstyle.

I agree he should have never left. It was a mistake for all parties involveed. He simply got too ambitious, his ego was far ahead of himself, he was young, not thinking straight, ignored others around him, and listened to his entourage while seeing the $$$ signs. Sad sad sad.

I think he was ambitious in a financial sense but not in a sporting sense considering the level he was showing in 2015 and early 2016. Joined a team that was domestically steamrolling everyone anyway and really needed him for the European knockout stages.

You get a player who naturally likes to party, going to a league where 95% of the season he can coast, it spells trouble. You won't find many top players joining that league in their mid-20s.

His recent comments about playing in MLS because of longer holidays tell you all you need to know about his mindset in recent years.

Watching him get blazed past by a 36 year old Modric for the second goal is too much lmao.

This guy is a joke.

Why is it that Messi boys were taking victory laps over two assists against St. Etienne a few weeks ago yet Neymar gets trolled for dropping two assists in 115 minutes against Real Madrid?

Different standards for different levels I suppose

Messi is almost 35 and has already owned RM over the course of his career (40 G+A). He stopped making a difference versus RM (and in CL) since a couple years ago but that's still more than Neymar, who has done fuck all in must win CL games at PSG through his actual prime (24-29).

Different levels, indeed :clown:

Agreed. At least one can justify Messi being past it at the current age of his, but Neymar simply wasted his peak, and already seems to have started going downhill at the age of 30. Still can pick a brilliant pass or two, but he cannot even taken on players like he used to, not to mention his shooting boots seem to be missing. Shame to witness that

The injuries played a huge role i think, his pace declined very fast after the injury in 2019.

Combination of injuries and he doesn't look like he really cares anymore.

He had a goal to win the Ballon d'or, and win the CL on his own with PSG but those dreams have gone up in smoke.

I thought he's gonna be a really memorable player, but IMO he's not even as good as Kaka was. He blew it big time.
