I'm lost for words on his decline since he debuted last season. Playing him as RB or LB is a mistake and CB spots are taken, he's like 4-5th option on that position right now.

Rash and tries to win anything that moves on front of him with poor positional sense.

This season should not be a surprise. All the signs were there last season by time it finished.

Was still bizarrely over rated in summer though.

Not too bad on ball and can whip in a decent cross if given time and some decent balls forward but even when RB that threat is not great and opposition are leaving him in acres of space to receive ball.

Will still come useful. We have more imminent matters with Pique retiring, Umtiti leaching and Lenglet shitting things up or Araujo being made of glass.

Mingueza is a backup and should be assessed as such.

Hmm... on the other hand, he is on a low salary and we can afford to give him more time to sort out his performances. Especially considering our squad depth atm. It will probably take a few years until we can have a big quality squad, that will render guys like Mingueza too crap to even get some minutes. But he still has to get better since this season he has dropped a lot.

Of course but Marmol and Almeida are on even lower wages and Mingueza's contract is expiring in 2023 so we'll have to make a decision about him in summer. Selling him is not a priority but if a good offer arrives then he'll be sold imo.

Free/low-cost changes I'd like to see in defense this season:

Pique (MLS/retirement) out - Christensen in
Lenglet (sold for 20-25m) and Umtiti (hopefully someone takes him for free just to offload his wages) - Marmol
Dest (sold for 25m) - Mazraoui
Mingueza - Azpilicueta
Balde (loan, as Xavi doesn't look to think he's ready) - Gaya (for around 15-20m so Alba gets a serious competition)

We'd clearly still lack a top class CB but I believe we'll spend whatever money we'll have this summer on a striker so will probably have to wait with CB until 2023. Not that Christensen-Araujo would look to terrible though and we'd have a proven veteran leader in Azpi (who could play as a RB or CB, especially when playing with 3 atb), Garcia and Marmol for rotation.

Nah, not at all regarding the 1st.

Christensen below par, not the level we need, he is behind all of Silva, Rudiger, Chebolah, at Chelsea.

Besides, we have Eric Garcia who can do everything that Christensen can. Bad move if we make it.

We need a proper WC CB next to Araujo next season to replace Pique.
