France definitely would've benefited from playing an extra midfielder rather than Dembele. Dembele doesn't produce enough to justify playing a front 4 with only 2 midfielders. Griezmann, despite his work rate, isn't a central midfielder.

Trust me, Coman would also have been substituted early on in that rw if he started instead of Dembele, Di Maria was just that good in that wing.

Infact Argentina dropped Momentum when Di Maria was was tired and subbed, so France forward players (Griezman, Dembele and Kounde) in the lw didn't have to do much defending again since Acuna isn't as gifted as Di Maria attacking wise.

Di Maria's influence was so clear when he was subbed out yesterday, but he had to be subbed since man was tired and he was just coming back from injury, but he's definitely a big game player.

I believe France won't have had a chance back if Maria was fit for the entire game, his dribbling and crosses were way more dangerous that Acuna's

Deschamps neutered Dembele. He looked like a scared player. It's just not how Dembele should play. Doesn't fit him. He is not a strong defensive player, so he shouldn't play role like that.

Mistake from Deschamps. Imo.

Dembele must hate playing for France. Barca he plays with confidence and he has freedom to do things which make him good. This was waste of him.

Basically he was just used as a scare of his speed in counter.
