As someone who speaks 4 languages well, sure it does. As someone who lives & speaks in a French speaking region and seen how easily those from romance/latin languages migrate to French - moreover, the research & statistics simply reflect that as well. So, try again

Aye aye Mr.Barca, it's a privilege to talk to my favorite club in person.
Congratulations for your language skills!

I got the order from You to try again, so aye aye, here is my next attempt:
Would you pleeease kindly look up in Google what percentage of French people speak any foreign tongue?
If you do that short exercise Sir, you will see (if you can also read in those 4 languages not just speak) that compared to the inhabitants/GDP scale, the French are almost the worst in the continent and are known to be clumsy at, or ever tend to refuse to learn languages, not to mention the difficulties it usually means for the average or less educated ones.

By the way Sir, probably you may have heard the saying: "He speaks five languages but unfortunately talks rubbish in all of them...".

If I'm allowed to close my humble case with a banal scientific stereotype:
Cognitive skills are NOT related to linguistic skills, and vice versa.
There are tens of millions of illiterate North-Indians, for instance, who speak 5-6 languages, Sir.

The "his job is to play football, not speak" argument only works for players who are nearly at their best.

Dembélé came to Barcelona as a talent, to learn and to develop. To do this he needs to understand and ask questions on what he's supposed to do, not do and what to improve.

I don't know if having Umtiti made him lazy in this regard, because he doesn't need to make an effort. He hangs out with the French people who can help him with translations when neeeded.

Yes to learn and develop his footballing skills, not his linguistic skills; having translators etc means he can continue to do his job without needing to master the language, obviously its preferable to be fairly competent in the language of the country you're currently residing/plying your trade in however its not a key requirement and one that shouldn't be used as a means to ridicule a player. This is the crux of the issue.

Winning the World Cup was the worst thing that could have happened to Forrest and Hmmm titties. Probably think they have conquered football and even Messi can't teach them anything. Bet they would have been more committed to Barca without that cursed World Cup.

Now Forrest is more committed to getting Gold 1 in weekend league.

Yes but at least some players are shy or introvert enough to be afraid of learning much of a foreign language, while others do not do it because they consider their assignments just temporary.

People happily associate the lack of language skills with stupidity, but that is not at all the case (as I said it earlier here).
Arda Turan never ever learned Spanish, he had his personal translator employed, and his serious problems at Barca (unlike at A.Madrid) were definitely not language oriented.

To receive guidance and tactical orders, it's quite enough to have 4 helping French players around him at Barca.

Really? So only the lame ones need tactical instructions?

Anyway, look at my horrible NT of my country, they only had foreign coaches the last 15 years, two Germans and now an Italian, who only speak English and all conversations in the green-room go in English. Do you think all Hungarian players are close to English perfection?

Story: Towards the end of my carrier as a footballer I played in France. Arrived there without knowing any French but my English was sort of acceptable. But nobody spoke English there, so it wasn't easy. I absolutely understood the instructions, because I was an experienced old lad and the magnetic-board with arrows drawn at it speaks for itself. The true language obstacle or barrier was felt when I couldn't really make friends there, couldn't become a part of the team for that reason. Had no friends whatsoever.

Because I came from behind the iron-curtain, the other players was always pulling my leg and were asking if I knew Russian. Damn, I spoke some okay Russian, because we had to study that for 8 years in school. That was the end of it and those idiots started calling me: Mr.KGB...

But mind it, it was in France, where by not knowing the language, you become an alien.

More like players who don't yet know what do to on the pitch and how to best use their qualities and strengths; and avoid their weaknesses, like Dembélé.

so Valverde the tactical genius is being limited by his ability to communicate with dembele? ignoring the fact there would be more then enough players/translators to convey the message? lol ok then the point you are trying to make is moot.

"HE DOESN'T KNOW HOW TO SPEAK! HE DOESN'T KNOW HOW TO SPEAK!"

Surely. He is most probably also deaf & dumb, probably partially blind too (that's why he gives away sooooo many balls), maybe he's also a vampire at night and masturbates too much before important games.

The: "he doesn't speak" is good, specially without an accusative, so maybe Messi is also having some speech and grammatical problems, besides having some heavy lisping problems.

Fuck Valverde and his so called tactics. Dembélé with a good coach would be 100 times better than he is now.

You're welcome

Those lisping problems are part of regional Argentinian accents. xD

When "Pep the sacred" arrived here, he told Hleb that the 1st thing he needs to do is to learn Spanish. And when the later rejected it put his career in jeopardy.
When Pep heard Abidal & Henry speaking together in French, he went mad on them. Told them they can only speak Spanish within the club.

And it wasn't only Pep, when Rijkaard arrived and put Valdes as starting GK over Rustu, he cited speaking Spanish as the main reason for it.

Honestly, I think Pep was overdoing it. But to underestimate the importance of speaking the language is crazy. Especially in a club like Barca, when you are trying to get a long term career here, when you are sidelined half of the time.
This is for sure a bad look for Dembele.
